Franklin Pierce Homestead was the home of the fourteenth president of the United States from his infancy until his marriage in 1834. The Pierce Homestead is a spacious and beautiful, federal style country home. Built by Pierce's father in 1804, it reflects the gracious and affluent living of the nineteenth century. A ballroom, which extends the entire length of the second floor, was used for entertaining neighbors and distinguished families of the state and nation. Franklin Pierce shared Daniel Webster's dedication to national unity and led our country during the most trying of times, the time of slavery. Private tours & large group tours can be arranged. The Pierce Homestead is available, at a fee, for small private functions & meetings.

You don't know much about this president, for some good and not so good reasons, but after you have toured the Franklin Pierce presidential museum, you get a feeling that President Pierce may have gotten a bad rap. Very interesting tour. We were there during history tours and it was very fun and informing. If you are in the Hillsborough... More

I have driven by the Franklin Pierce Homestead many times as a teenager , and did not stop. But this time we did, Tour starts iut in the Barn, many neat things too see and think about. The Old Homestead is in very good shape, at one time was across the street, was moved many years ago. Very enjoyable visit... More

Have visited the Pierce Homestead a number of times for the house tours, special events and lectures. Always impressed with the professional presentations, they're very well organized, informative, and inspiring. This is always a stop when we have new visitors and they just love it!

Actually his father's home, but interesting for both his father's history and Franklin's Very informative (and knowledgeable) docent, but she did tend to go on... You can tell it means a lot to her. Some period pieces, some reproductions, some original, but this tour took well over an hour.

This presidential home site was somewhat interesting to see the house where President Franklin Pierce grew up, but the tour guide gave a lot of information about Pierce's boyhood family & relatives which was a bit confusing. I wanted to know more about Pierce as an adult, also, but there was not much information about that part of his life.... More

An informative tour guide leads you through the history of the Pierce family. Especially unique is the story of Franklin Pierce's father, who served as governor of New Hampshire. The road that passes it is quiet today but obviously was busy in the heyday of the house. The guide helps you visualize its life in earlier days.

We were blown away by the wonderful tour by Sara! She really made the home come alive and was able to articulate the history of the beautiful home. It is a gem of New Hampshire and national history, and everyone in the area should visit!

My family and I went to the Franklin Pierce Homestead to travel back in time! We where comfortably greeted by a wonderful young man named Adam at the front. Sara was our tour guide and her enthusiasm brought the tour to life. She was interested in the information she was giving to us and we learned a lot. We thoroughly... More

If you are a history buff, or a U.S. presidents buff, plan on visiting this site. We thoroughly enjoyed our guided tour of the childhood home of Franklin Pierce, which provided some insight into his early exposure to politics, as well as insight into his home life prior to his marriage. The gift shop also has some very interesting items... More

Our guide, Sara, conducted the tour as if she grew up there. She imparted a lot of little-known information about the Pierce family and how they lived. Who knew that President Pierce was from a family of partiers? We learned about the architecture of the house and a lot of family history. She is a great guide and it was... More
