Henniker and this shop deserve to be busy daily! The small town has good restaurants to visit after buying a pile of books at the Depot! The books shelves are endless with no subject missed. I have found many odd books here but its the search thats the most fun. I have visited old books stores throughout the US and... More

Open almost all the time, fantastic selections, well-organized and great prices. My favorite bookstore in New Hampshire, where I spend $100 every time I visit my parents.

This bookstore is definitely along the beaten path but once located you immediately get sucked in to a massive maze of books that you could get lost in for days. I enjoyed the extensive selection as well as the prices. The vintage books along with the barn-style building make this store totally worth the trip. The owner however seemed a... More

This was unlike your normal bookstore because it was two floors of books in a barnlike structure. Everything was well categorized and the gentleman running the store very helpful. Majority of the books were used and range from out of print historical and literary writings to modern day paperbacks and hard covers. Plan to spend a couple of hours browsing... More

I've been stopping by the Book Depot for many years, and it's always a real treat. It's essentially a barn packed from floor to ceiling with well-organized books of all kind (attached to a sprawling country house that serves as the storage area for the next wave of books to be shelved as volumes find a home). You'll find some... More

I first discovered this bookstore more than thirty years ago. It has long been one of my favorite antique bookstores. It is set on the outskirts of Henniker, a typical New England town. The town itself warrants spending time exploring. The bookstore is well organized and easy to navigate. There are two floors. Being an Imperial Russian history buff I... More

Since I’m an academic, it’s probably not surprising that my trips include a fair number of visits to bookstores — especially used bookstores. My list includes the usual suspects: Shakespeare and Company in Paris, the Strand in New York, City Lights in San Francisco, etc.. But it also includes various odd and out of the way places, from the peculiar... More
