We went on the 2-hour guided tour. Price was $36 for a round trip. The driver was brilliant. He obviously knew the area and road well. He explained about the 4 different ecological zones. What animals and plants were in each. He told stories about...More

I was quite skeptic about the ride before our arrival but I have found the views on the peak breath taking (it was a sunny day clear of clouds with great visibility) and the ride it self gave me the chills - my wife was...More

After reading the many negative reviews we weren't too sure of making the trip to Mt Washington-especially since my husband has a fear of heights but we took the guided van ride up and Shannan was an awesome guide to the top. Her driving skills...More

Having driven Mount Evans and Pikes Peak in Colorado we weren't too sure whether to bother with this but I'm glad we did. The climb to the top isn't as extreme as others we've experienced but the fog in various places made things interesting! The...More

We drove up the 8 mile road. I was the passenger and at several places I was definitely "puckered." The sheer drop off with no guard rail took my breath several times. Near the top we hit fog which created very low visibility. Once at...More

We enjoyed the 8 mile drive up to the summit of Mount Washington. The Mseum at the top and the red barn museum at the bottom are both well worth visiting

We took the guided auto tour via the Stage Line. Wink was quite a character, great driver and very informative. He took time to stop and let us take pictures and knew the history of the road and the summit. We trusted him from the...More

This is one great drive. We drove the road on our trip to Canada. It’s only 8 miles but it’s very steep. It’s not for the faint of heart. When you reach the top got see the museum and hit the gift shop. Go slow...More

You can do it! It’s a scary drive to the top but so worth it! There are a lot of pull overs for pictures and to let others pass you. Mid September and the leaves were just beginning to change and so beautiful. Be forewarned...More

Driving up Mt. Washington was definitely hair raising but worth it. When I saw the signs and warnings I thought they were being dramatic but found out very quick that they were serious. Very glad we took the drive up to the top, it's beautiful....More

Not all of the road is paved. It's a short piece above tree level that's dirt. But very good driveable. The whole road is easily driveable if you have a feeling for the car and its dimensions.

I’d take the van. You’ll get to see a lot more. And, your car will appreciate it.
