We rented a nearby log cabin and spent the weekend hiking around, up and down the Franconia Notch. Note that this was November, so the big visitor center was not open, and I can't speak to what that's like. However the winter trail to the...More

We arrived here lunchtime after driving from Stowe, the Cars were parked all along the Highway and the Parking lot was totally full, you had to just sit and wait, we then got to the entrance and were amazed to see a very long line...More

The place had closed for the season the day before we got there ... all we could do was admire the leaves and the pool by the entrance. Looked good.

Come early to beat the crowds and maximize the solitude. We spent about two hours doing a loop including the flume gorge. Such beautiful trails with waterfalls, covered bridges and fall leaves! The visitor center was very nice and included a movie.

We chose to hike 2 mile loop through the gorge. There are many steps, some steep grades, and the usual tripping hazards you find on nature trails. You will see the most amazing towering granite walls, cascading falls right beside you, and 2 covered bridges....More

Even if this trail and visitor center are more peopled than elsewhere, the beauty of water and woods is worth it. Little stop at Wolf's den is a kick! If you have kids, be at the other end of it! Feel the power of Nature...More
