We visited the Old Man of the Mountain at Profile Plaza in Franconia Notch, New Hampshire on Friday, September 29th, while on vacation. Prior to 2003 we used to like to stop at Profile Lake to view the Old Man of the Mountain rock formation...More

ummm....don't waste your time. Going here is like going to a cow pasture and having someone tell you this is where the amazon rainforest used to be.

Sadly the real old man rock formation fell many years ago. Whether you ever saw the original or not, it's worth a stop to see this quirky attraction. It's a short stroll from the parking lot to the viewing area and there are a few...More

I hadn't done a lot of research on this location and had I, I probably wouldn't have visited. Spoiler Alert: The Old Man of the Mountain profile is no longer there. We read about how natural erosion caused it to crumble despite the best efforts...More

This is a great place to visit and doesn't take too long. 30 minutes is enough, but you could stay for a hour. It is a short hike and a wonderful view.

The replica of the old man brings him back! It doesn't replace the real rock, but you can share your memories with your kids. It has a great bike path here also. Nice visitor center with old photos.

So sad the real thing is gone, but this is a nice way to remember what it looked like and to show my son what is looked like through the viewer. The gift shop area has some great photos of what it used to be...More

We visted this site resently. The ole Man rock formation has been gone for years, but this is an interesting veiw of the missing figure on Echo lake. A very nice tribute.

While it's interesting to read how much impact a rock formation had on the area, I'd never seen the original. So standing and viewing a metal post imagining what it looked like was not that impressive. I'm sure anyone who had seen the Old Man...More
