Pretty park, great mountain views. But the profiler is a let down without the full face (the rocks fell 13-14 years ago). Imagine crazy horse in South Dakota, but natural stone. The profiler is great for geology buffs. A good lesson on geometry as well...More

Though the stone face has long succumbed to nature, this is a very well done tribute that makes you feel as though you are looking at it once again. It’s an easy walk to the plaza.

The profile plaza is a donation funded tribute to the state symbol, "The Old Man of the Mountain" It was ingeniously designed to simulate how the "old man" looked when it was still part of the mountain. I remember seeing the Old Man in the...More

We visited the Old Man of the Mountain at Profile Plaza in Franconia Notch, New Hampshire on Friday, September 29th, while on vacation. Prior to 2003 we used to like to stop at Profile Lake to view the Old Man of the Mountain rock formation...More

ummm....don't waste your time. Going here is like going to a cow pasture and having someone tell you this is where the amazon rainforest used to be.

Sadly the real old man rock formation fell many years ago. Whether you ever saw the original or not, it's worth a stop to see this quirky attraction. It's a short stroll from the parking lot to the viewing area and there are a few...More

This is a great place to visit and doesn't take too long. 30 minutes is enough, but you could stay for a hour. It is a short hike and a wonderful view.

I visited the site three times while staying in Franconia at Lafayette State Park. They have done an admirable job of telling the history of this rock formation that has fallen from the Mountain. The placards do a good job of telling the area's history....More

The replica of the old man brings him back! It doesn't replace the real rock, but you can share your memories with your kids. It has a great bike path here also. Nice visitor center with old photos.
