The chances of seeing a view once you get to the top are slim. We encountered clouds and rode back down being pretty wet. We were told the mountain top is clear only about 60 days a year.

We were going to drive up the Auto Road to the Mount Washington summit but it was closed to cars the day we visited so we drove round to the Cog railway and so glad we did. Excellent ride up the mountain, with knowledgeable conductors....More

Bring warm clothes for the summit and a windbreaker would be a good idea to take. We were walking around in the clouds and it was challenging to see the kids 4 feet in front of us, so if it's cloudy, keep them near. I...More

We debated driving to the top but instead opted for the Cog Railway. I'm glad we did. The scenery on the way up is spectacular and the conductor is very informative. Although the train climbs grades of nearly forty percent, there is nothing scary about...More

What a great experience! Very cool thing for kids of all ages and adults! It is wonderful how friendly and personable the rail staff is! They are so knowledgeable! A great thing to do if you're in the area!

In our opinion the price for the train was to high. The summit of mt Washington is worth your visit but you can just take your car. It is windy on top so bring a sweatshirt or jacket.

Well organised and good value. They cannot control the weather, so the view cannot be guaranteed. An interesting way to spend a few hours. All the staff were knowledgeable and friendly.

As we were planning the trip, we were first going to drive the road to the top. I'm so glad we changed our minds to ride the COG Railway instead! Awesome views and our narrator was great. It was 40 degrees on the top with...More

Hiked the Pres Range as a pre teen with Outward Bound, so returning 40 years later and taking the Cog Train to the top was re-living a memory.

We were traveling with young children and they enjoyed the rail ride to the top of Mt Washinton. The views from the top were amazing and although we packed jackets because we were told it could be chilly on top, the temperature was 69 degrees...More

More than a plane. Very comfortable ride. The seats can face forward or towards one another if you are in a group. But with such a steep incline going up, it's best to have the seats facing towards the mountain. My... More

I am planning to visit the area in the middle of October. 1. has anyone experienced motion sickness riding cog railway? I am usually fine with trains, but never been on anything like this. 2. Will the tickets be sold out for the fall foliage season? Can I still buy the tickets on the day of or 1 week before the ride? Thank you!

I get motion sickness very easily, but had no problems on the Cog. It moves at something like 5 miles an hour, and doesn't rock at all. I would definitely purchase tickets in advance for the foliage season, as that is a very... More

There is really no difference between the platforms, they are all right next to each other. They line the trains up, one at each platform, then you just get on the train your tickets are for. They all leave at around the... More
