We had used Black Tie a few times in Mammoth and didn't think twice about contacting Black Tie for Heavenly - Kat was brilliant! She took our reservation (all our info from mammoth was already in the database), showed up herself with the equipment at the time that suited us at our hotel room, then picked it all up within 10 minutes of our phone call at the parking lot by the Gondola - so easy, so efficient, so friendly - I would never call any other service

I love Black Tie it's as simple as it gets. It's so convenient to have them come to our hotel and custom fit us right on the spot. If there is any doubt they bring several different sizes or styles to accomodate your needs. Also just incase you forgot someting at home they have a whole bag full of mountain essentials. All this for the same price as the rental shops that you would have to go into and wait in line to get your equipment. Once you use them once they store all your sizing info so it's as simple as scheculing a time and boom ready to go. Pick up just as easy. Everyone is very professional and enthusiastic. The equipment is always in excellent condition and top of the line. Black Tie is my go to place rentals.

Excellent service!!!! They delivered my boots and skis up 7 floors. They also delivered my boot inserts back to my condo after I forgot them. I hope they can continue this level of service as they grow. Their price was cheaper than other sites! I will use they every time we ski!

Im a part time Tahoe resident with old equipment.... Didn't want to spend a fortune on new equipment or rental and they have great equipment priced to please. Knowledgeable staff.

We have utilized Black Tie many times in other skin locations but the Heavenly team was truly outstanding. They arrived at our condo on-time and the technicians were extremely professional and friendly. We had a large group, 10 rentals, and had 2 bindings break on the mountain during our trip - on both instances Black Tie was all over it and met us at the mountain and had us up and skiing again within an hour, which exceeded my expectations given the circumstances. These guys are hard workers and know the value of service. I would not hesitate to use their services again and higly recommend them.

Quality of kit - Top notch
Friendliness and willingness of staff - Best I have experienced.
We happened to be at the excellent lodge at Edgewood, where Black Tie are the incumbent provider, but if you visit Lake Tahoe, Black Tie Ski Rental is the best of the best. Can not recommend enough.

Staff is okay until you have an issue, in which case, they are incredibly unprofessional and RUDE!! I paid nearly 200 for a 2 day rental of snowboard kit of which I only used 1 day - and it was faulty - bad gears on a binding. They claimed the board was tuned but 20 years of snowboarding proves otherwise - in any event, don't bother paying the premium. There are SO MANY lovely places and people in South Lake Tahoe to give your business to - I recommend going elsewhere. Black Tie HAS NO INTEGRITY OR MANNES FOR DEALING WITH ISSUES OF CUSTOMERS.

I traveled to South Lake Tahoe this past weekend with my girlfriend to meet a large group of our friends for a ski weekend in Heavenly. I pre-booked Black Tie Ski Rentals prior to our trip because it sounded like a convenient option to rent Skis, boots, and most importantly ski jackets and pants. The issues started a couple days before I arrive in Tahoe, and never ceased:
1. I received a call that they could not deliver to our house in South Lake Tahoe because it was outside of the delivery range. I thought this strange becuase i entered the address at the time of the rental and was not notified, and the house is only a 15 minute drive from Heavenly, but no big deal -- I moved gladly and arranged to meet them at 9AM at the California Lodge.
2. I arrive at the CA lodge at 9AM and call Black Tie, they tell me that they are running 15-20 minutes late, and to hang tight. Again, no big deal, I understood that these things happen, so we waited. however, i would have preferred if they would have notified me that they were running late, rather than waiting for me to call them.
3. at 9:27AM I had received no calls and had not seen them, although i confirmed with multiple Heavenly employees that i was at the correct spot, right in front of the CA lodge, so i decided to call Black Tie and see where they were at. I received an extremely rude response from the woman attending the phone who told me that they had arrived and waited for me and called me several times but I didn't answer. She informed me that they had already left and that they would come back as quickly as possible.
-- the major issues with this were that they clearly did not wait at all or try to find me considering I had already notified them that i was at the mountain (at our agreed upon time of 9AM) and they were running 15-20 minutes late, according to them. the fact that they already left at 9:27 when i called to see where they were tells me that they did not try hard at all to find me (if they were actually there) i was standing in plain sight with at the designated meeting spot.
This is where the real issues started. Black tie did not show up after waiting until 10AM (out in the cold, in the spot they told us to wait in, and we did not have ski jackets or pants yet, becuase we were renting them from Black tie). The rude woman at the office told me it would be another 15 minutes, so we continue to wait. By this time my girflriend had already missed the 10AM start of her ski school which we prepaid $115 for. By 10:45am, after i had called about 5 times and recieved no answer, the rude woman calls me back and tells me they won't be able to come for antoher hour, and they can refund me. I accepted the refund.
--this left my girlfiend and me on our own to go find last minute rentals on the morning of Saturday of presidnets day weekend. We missed out on ski school (lost $115), a half day of skiiing for both of us (lift tickets are ~$150 ea.) and we were separated from our group. We found skis, boots, and clothes that fit after checking at a few different locations, but we ended up paying last minute prices and lost money on that as well.
Overall horrible experience.

This service is great, it saves alot of valuable vacation time and the equipment was top notch. I will ALWAYS use this service in the future, incredible convenience and great service from the staff.

I paid nearly 2000 for a 4 day rental of 6 sky kits (2 children) of which I only used 1 day - and it was faulty - ; I have to buy clothes for my childrens because Black Tie doesn't change and don't offer discount what I paid for defect boats and clothes. There are SO MANY lovely places and people in South Lake Tahoe to give your business to - I recommend going elsewhere. Black Tie HAS NO INTEGRITY OR MANNES FOR DEALING WITH ISSUES OF CUSTOMERS.
