A quick three day juant to Reno

My wife and I made the trip and we decided to go ‘first class’ with the Gold Pass and we were in the youngest couple, but the others were fun. The meals were pretty good on the... read more

We looked forward to our Reno Fun Train weekend getaway. Unfortunately, a severe storm forced its cancellation (Amtrak closed the tracks to Reno). I don't blame Key Holidays for that. I do take exception to them not honoring their promise to process a credit. First promise - wait seven days. We waited three weeks. Second promise - you'll see the... More

My wife and I made the trip and we decided to go ‘first class’ with the Gold Pass and we were in the youngest couple, but the others were fun. The meals were pretty good on the Gold Pass. Unfortunately, you face backward either coming or going because you are sitting at a table like arrangement, and my wife gets... More

The Sierra Scenic Snow Train is the weekday version of the Reno Fun Train which runs from San Jose to Reno on Tuesdays and returns to the Bay Area on Thursdays. The train makes stops in Oakland (Jack London Square), Richmond (BART), Martinez, Suisun, Sacramento and Roseville on it's way to Reno. The trip was simply outstanding; the service was... More

My wife and I are members of the Pacific Locomotive Association (PLA) and the Niles Canyon Railroad (NCRY). Some of the members planned a Fun Train trip and we went along. The 'fun' was non stop. There were snacks, a great Elvis impersonator, and a Murder Mystery with great actors and clues scattered throughout the train. The views of the... More

I had taken some pictures back in February when we went on the Reno Fun Train and had lost them on the Cloud, but I had finally found them on the Cloud. It was our 26 yrs of marriage and we wanted to something different so we decided on the Reno Fun Train that we had heard allot about. And... More

We went on the Madri train on Feb 28th. Very nice experience, quiet, peaceful, relaxing trip. This was a special gift for my Birthday. We boarded in Roseville for the 4 hour trip to Reno. We paid for the Gold service. It was well worth the extra comfort and great views from the observation car with gourmet meal service below... More

It's just fun being on a train, period, but add cocktails, music and lots of people in a great mood, and it's a great scene to be in! We got on in Sacramento, and the train was right on time. We had the Gold Service, so we had the dome car, bar and server right in our car. Also a... More

Went on the Mardi Gras trip which was Feb 28-March 2nd. The words "Mardi Gras" should be an indication of how the trip went. Do not confuse the Fun train with the Snow train! Fun train is on the weekend and must be 21, the snow train is during the week and children are allowed. We hopped on in Sacramento...the... More

If you want a crazy fun weekend this has to go to the top of your list. No kids here under 21. Music, cocktails (BYOB/snacks) and craziness. A bunch of people, many in costume take the 5 hour train to Reno. Music on the train and a lot of people in a great mood. You can walk from one car... More
