These stout, smart, sure footed horses are not pets. They are athletes and solid trail partners. Trust your horse, they know their job. Be smart and be absolutely honest about your riding ability. The cowboys will read you like a book anyway, so be straight forward about how much you ride and what kind of riding you are used to.... More

Took my seven year old daughter riding with Terry while visiting family in Reno. Great ride for her skill level. The horses were well trained while still having some personality. Would love to try a longer ride sometime!

The best trail ride I (minimal experience, only trail rides) and my daughter (Western rider, pretty experienced) have ever been on. Out into the beautiful landscape to see wildlife and enjoy the sun, we rode wonderful horses with guidance that was more like a lesson than standard tourist banter. A fantastic day.

I am very happy to have found Terry and Marcus at Rancho Red Rock. I had signed up for the Reno Cattle Drive but had very little horse experience. Terry not only made me feel at ease immediately by focusing on safety with a calm and relaxed manner, but also made sure that we had interesting and fun rides into... More

I have been riding horses a long time. I also used to work for a horseback riding outfit. This place is the best. Leo, my guide was very pleasant and helpful pointing out the different wildlife we saw up in the mountains. Families of deer and a coyote. I rode a big black gelding named Leland. He was very sweet... More

The constraints of insurance mean that in most trail riding establishments in the US you will be sitting on top of a horse that will keep its position at number 10 (or whatever it is) in a line of 20 irrespective of whether there is a person on top of it or not. You will be limited to walk on... More

Orion and Kael turned 7 just a few days prior to our visit. They have never been exposed to large animals and I was not sure what I should expect. Terry and I spoke at length the night before to help her properly assess appropriate mounts for each of us. Froggy the Dog (Blue Heeler) greeted us and escorted us... More
