Oh, Mt. Rose...how we love you! After a long hiatus from skiing, I've jumped back in now that I have a little one to teach! My daughter (4-years) is finishing up her 2nd season on the mountain and loves it as much as I do. We LOVE: close parking, short walk, great views, varied terrain, the highest base in Tahoe,... We usually go to Heavenly when we go to Tahoe but this time we stayed in Reno and wanted to check out North Tahoe since we stayed in Reno. This is only about an hour away from Reno and is very easy to get to. The lift tickets are normally $115 but women get $29 lift tickets every Thurs plus... More

This mountain has everything from super easy beginner runs, to cruising intermediates, fun blacks, and super expert Chutes. The staff and the locals are very friendly and it has a home-y kind of vibe. Not pretension like some of the corporation owned ski resorts.

This is a local resort. Lots of fun and very laid back. The people that come here are very friendly - you will end up talking to people on the lift. There is a wide variety of runs and the views are amazing. It's easy to get to from Reno.

A great selection of green runs and beginner lifts for those just learning; I like that they're all close together and "Around the World" (green) is really long, too, which is great practice. There's a wide variety of blue runs as well as double-black-diamond runs for the more advanced skiers (the chutes). The high elevation ensures that this resort gets... More

Mt. Rose is a great place for beginners to take ski lessons, has friendly helpful employees. Depending on the powder, snow boarding is great. An easy commute from Reno.

This is a rather small but great ski resort for those that live in the area. Buying a year pass makes this resort an excellent one to visit often for a few hours each weekend day (and during the week for those who don't have to work). The people on the hill are upbeat and friendly and there are sufficient... More
