Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The view from the top was beautiful, easily accessible as well. Since I went on a Sunday at sunset, the parking lot with 5 spaces was empty. I can see problems if more people come and there is no parking.
It is an easy climb but do do it when people are around because if you fall and you are alone, no one will be able to know or help you. And it is easy to miss your footing climbing up.

Csme here with a friend of mine from high school (who moved to Lake Tahoe) after doing some prior research on what all Summer activities to do in Tahoe besides gambling plus my interest in exploring new places and hiking.
One issue was the fact that there was a lot of haze and smoke due to the wildfires, which made it hazy, but the air quality was not too bad, though it started to deteriorate later. The sad part was not being able to see proper views of the Lake or Stateline, Nevada itself.
Climbing up Cave Rock itself was a challenge, unless you are hiking with somebody more experienced, but we made it up to the top and enjoyed the view. Definitely recommended if you like hiking.
The only thing I hope for next time is the ability to hike on a clear day or to come in the Spring and see snow on the mountains.
One downside is parking, which is sort of near the neighborhood and the challenges of finding parking.

Took a quick rest stop near Cave Rock as we drove through the Lake Tahoe area in October. Tahoe is always beautiful from any vantage point -- and this spot provides picturesque views. Last year (Aug. 2019) we made the climb to the top of the Rock with grandkids. It is a moderate hike and my wife stopped at the bottom of the final ascent. The school-age grandkids accomplished the top with a bit of help.
The views from the summit were fantastic! I highly encourage anyone who likes hiking to visit this place.

We stopped here on our way from the Reno airport into town for the sunset and it was an amazing way to start our vacation. Parking was right off of the highway and the whole place was so peaceful and beautiful. Many benches down by the water if climbing is not your thing.
We were there at sunset during the 4th of July weekend and it was deserted for the most part. A handful of others drove up for the sunset moment and then drove away again. We drove by a few times during the middle of the day throughout the rest of the week and the signs always said the lot was full, so you may have to be flexible on when you go.

There is no better view of Lake Tahoe. It is a short, steep hike to the top, but well worth the climb.
As others have noted, be careful where you park. There is limited parking and if you park in no parking areas the fines are steep.

Amazing views! We only happened to go when the hikes we were planning on were snowed out. It is a short hike from the small carpark, then a climb up rocks to get to amazing views at the top. Definitely worth it.

I was excited to visit this attraction, but I was disappointed by the lack of useful information. First, we tried to park where the boat launch is, but there is no access to the rock itself and there is a user fee if you park there. We were told to drive our car across the highway to the "Cave Rock subdivision." We drove in and found NO SIGNS. We had no clue where we were going and ended up giving up. I looked interesting from a distance, but that's about it.

If only it hadn’t been a smokey hazy kind of day the views would have been awesome. If you drive the 72 mile loop around Tahoe you go through the tunnel that is Cave Rock! We missed the residential turn off to even find the trailhead a few times. It IS NOT MARKED on the side of the road. It is across from the Cave Rock Boat Ramp access in the Cave Rock Estates subdivision. In July the parking lot was undergoing some work so the only place to park is on the side of the road, very small space, 5 vehicles at best. The path to walk on is dirt mostly and not too steep of a climb. We did not even attempt to climb the rock itself mainly because of the smoke. Sure glad we stopped for a quick 30 minutes.

No parking, crowded, lots of people drinking abs leaving trash, music blasting. Weekends and evenings are waaaay to busy. A few even said they planned on car camping there. Peeing on the parking lot.

Most of the area is marked no parking. The neighbors are fanatics and call the cops. My ticket was $500 (fire lane) and the towing was $750! No view is worth that. Take Uber and enjoy the view.

There is a state park with a parking lot - smaller size - but we usually can find a spot. the views of the lake from there are awesome.
