The Nevada Northern Railway is a non-profit historical foundation whose mission is to maintain and operate what has been acclaimed as the best preserved railroad facility in the United States. Come, enjoy history with us! We offer 90 minute train rides up toward the historic Ruth Copper Mine, as well as a view into the history of what put this mining town on the map. Don't miss the included tour of the Engine House and yard after the train ride. You can see the facility that has been servicing these steam locomotives for over a century now. For the serious rail fan, we offer the opportunity to be at the throttle (and brakes!) Of a real, standard-gauge, steam locomotive on your own private run "up the hill."

As we entered the parking lot and got out of our cars two huge beasts (German shepherd and boxer) jumped into our rent car and wouldn't get out. They seemed friendly, so we tried to coax them out with no luck, and then had to...More

Took the star train last night and was very disappointed. It was mostly cloudy, but the staff and Rangers made the best of the situation. We only traveled @ 1/2 mile out of the city to view the night sky. I saw more of the...More

You have to visit the historical train station. They have different trains that you can ride so check the schedule when you're planning your trip. They have theme trains at different times of the year. The best part about this whole train museum is that...More

This is an amazing place where you can watch and talk to people who not only know trains but restore them. My favorite find was a rotary snow plow. Of course train rides are available as well.

Wife and I spent a week working the Nevada Northern yard, learning the ins and outs of railroading, learning the law and rules of the railroad. Drove the steamer, diesel and even the track cars....replaced ties and fixed rails... the whole shebang and worth every...More

Before taking a ride on the train, we had time to go upstairs to the museum. Loved looking at all of the old office equipment, typewriters, telegraph equipment, and the beautiful wood desks, chairs and cabinets. There is even a complete set of payroll ledgers...More

The clock stopped in 1949 at this gem of a museum hidden in the high desert of Nevada. What you will find at the Nevada Northern can't be recreated with fiberglass and multimedia presentations. The train rides offered are an enjoyable escape, but the true...More

I recently took the special Eclipse excursion train with steam engine #40. They provided the proper eyewear and were very concerned for passenger safety. The train went into Robinson Canyon and near some copper and other mines, while a local history narration was given. It...More

We were able to get tickets and it was great. The people who run the museum do it for love of history and the train not money and it is evident in the way you are treated and in the presentation of the tour. I...More

As the former owner of a small dog, I wouldn't recommend it. There are occasions where they blow the horn or whistle (loud!) which would've terrified my doggie. He probably would try to jump out. Not good!

I don't know the name of the train runs. However, in the past, they've gone through the tunnel on the way to Ruth to their turning wye called Keystone.

Our train trip was during daylight hours. So, I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you. I do hope you enjoy your visit there as much as we did ours.
