Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Atypical site allowing a nice quick hike to reach the plateau where the view is very pleasant. The yellow stones are spectacular to visit. Catering and snacks possible at the restaurant which is close to the car park.

Beautiful walk in the forest, easy to do with family. 15 minutes from the car park to the site of Pierres. Upstairs, the view is beautiful; the kids loved this place and had a lot of fun there; To couple with a round of 18-hole mini golf and a stopover at the cottage for a meal or snack.

These rocks and the surrounding woodland have the feeling of a long lost world. If you stand still and quiet and look at the balanced rocks which surround you and tower over you a sense of times gone by, maybe pagan ceremonies and the awe the rocks would have induced in a simple world.
There is a good car park adjacent to the road. The path then ascends steeply up into the wood behind a large outdoor activity center. This path would be difficult for the infirm and impossible for wheelchairs. You ascend through a woodland until reaching the top of the hill (20 minute climb) you come upon these vast boulders all smooth and of different sizes looking rather like a handful of giant pebbles discarded by some gigantic hand.
It is not a busy tourist trap, apart from the information board in the car park there are no intrusive signs or facilities. The day I visited in mid October there was no one else there.
Well worth the climb.

Apart from the rocks that defy gravity and the views from the top, there is also bouncy castle, trampolines, crazy gold, laser games and adventure in the trees. Also a wonderful restuarant and cafe. All in all great fun for all ages

Not at all disabled aces friendly. A steep uneven walk to the stones which are very impressive. Lots and lots of space and lots of chances for great photos, climbing and just enjoying the outdoors. There is also a restaurant, inflatables, mini golf and high ropes course at the site (not free.) if its's nice weather weather we'd recommend a picnic. Lots of parking and toilets at site. ,

Its quite a steep walk but worth it.

If you're anywhere in or near the north-eastern area of what's now Nouvelle Aquitaine (formerly Limousin) then the Pierres Jaumatres is a must-see, understated tourist attraction. It's a few kilometres away from the small market town of Boussac.
The Pierres are a collection of massive granite boulders on the summit of Mont Barlot. These are all that now remain of a once-huge volcano that towered 2km in height.
The name Pierres Jaumatres is derived from the Latin word Matres (Mothers). Matres were ancient female deities that were worshiped in ancient times by the Gauls and Celts. Not surprisingly there are a lot of fairy tales and legends associated with the Pierres, and you can see why when you visit. They do have an air of mystery and magic.
There is a recently opened new 'boucle de retour' that now makes for a nice circular walk around the Pierres. There are some geocaches to be found there too.
It's an excellent visit and attractive at any time of year, although obviously slippery in snow and ice. There's an amazing view towards Boussac with it's beautiful castle and surrounding countryside from the top.
On the practical side there is ample car parking and well marked trails. These are not particularly pushchair friendly, but it's doable with an effort. There's a café on site where there are toilets (there aren't any public ones), but the café isn't open all year round. Connected with the café is a tree-top adventure, also crazy golf, and there's a small collection of pets to see.

Stones carry their load of legends and mystery.
Once you reach after a 10 minutes walk in the woods, the stones park , you are surprised by the number of these monolith or megaliths .
It s spread out like à files of rock and you can't stop thinking that this site must have been the sanctuary of magic ceremonies in the past.
To be seen, if you believe that stones are also living things.
