Founded in 1927, Hastings Museum is the largest municipal museum between Chicago and Denver. Featuring a Theatre with a 65-foot wide screen and large domed Planetarium, we house dozens of animal species set in their natural habitats, allowing you to get an up close look at many amazing creatures! We also chronicle the history of the early inhabitants of the Nebraska plains, from paleo-Indians to euro-Americans, while providing a look back at the creatures that used to roam this area and swim in Cretaceous Sea. Of course you'll also discover how Kool-Aid, the famous soft drink invented in Hastings, came to be such a success.

I thought this was a great museum. It is old school in the sense it's more about learning something than just trying to push a button and move on. My kids had a great time dressing up like pioneers, native Americans, or pretending to run...More

A very nice collection. But hard to get around with a cast on leg. And the exhibits are nice but there is ZERO interaction with staff or any items in museum. Except the tipi and trappers cabin, both of which we practically ran from as...More

Obviously the Kool-Aid portion is probably what gets most of the attention, but this is actually an impressive little museum for a town this size. The Kool-Aid part was interesting. They also have a large collection of birds, mammoth and mastodon remains, as well as...More

As there is not much attractions to visit in this area, visiting the museum is a good idea. Well worth a visit.Well maintained.
