A rather large open-air museum with a lot of buildings to wander through. We have been to a lot of these places, but this one had some unique exhibits - such as a vet's operating room for horses. Worth 3 or so hours of your...More

You could spend a whole day in railroad town and another in main building, the farmstead, and still have more to see. The grandchildren loved the Blacksmith and the Tinsmith. They were very interactive with the children.

We stopped here while looking for a place to view the solar eclipse. We did not view it from there (we heard they had quite a crowd). We where their a little early so the main building was not open. We went to the machine...More

This museum made me think I was in church as when you walk in you are faced with two ascending staircases and every thing is white. The floor is white tile and the walls are white. At the top of the staircases you can just...More

This is a huge open air museum with air conditioned "museums" within. A great place for families to visit together. I loved the old church and schoolhouse.

This is an excellent museum with well maintained, beautiful and immaculate grounds and buildings. When we visited, despite being host to eclipse viewing for thousands of people the previous day, there wasn't a scrap of litter and apart from some additional picnic tables being removed,...More

The historic town buildings and period-costumed volunteers made for a fun afternoon. It was a warm August Saturday so luckily the general store was scooping up generous cheap cones of ice cream. I posted a letter at the little post office to one of the...More

Museum was very educational and interesting. I especially like walking around the grounds to see the old restored buildings. A great photo op. The museum itself was beautiful with many interesting exhibits.

Real life people with the ability to answer questions. Almost complete town to re enact the areas. Loved the railroad town and the ability to purchase things from that era. The blacksmith, sawmill and the tin maker all showed all it was done before modern...More

Perfect for watching the eclipse, and visiting the history of Nebraska. The courtesies extended to the 5,000 visitors that day were expansive, calm and very welcoming. The tour of the facility was wonderful. The building itself is really stunning. Grand Island should be proud to...More

It depends. This Museum consists of several parts. So if you want to see it all, I would definitely plan to be there from open to close. They're open from 9-5 Monday through Saturday. Outbuildings open a bit later, but you... More
