This place is great for a history lesson for Yellowstone National Park and the town of West Yellowstone. There is a great collection of artifacts, particularly with regard to transportation (railroad and stagecoach). We saw three very interesting films: (!) concerning the 1959 earthquake, (2) about the 1988 Yellowstone fires, and (3) about early travel through the National Park.

Small museum with exhibits describing the history of early tourists to the area. In the early days travel to Yellowstone was by train as there were no roads. Modest fee to view the exhibits. Films of the big fire in Yellowstone were shown.

I have stayed at West Yellowstone numerous times since I was a child, and never stopped to visit this museum since our main focus was Yellowstone. This weekend we decided to spend more time in W. Yellowstone and visited the museum. What a great find! The history is fascinating, and I was impressed at the many priceless treasures that are... More

My trip to Yellowstone was just leisurely, so I spent around one hour here. This museum is informative in old trains, history of how the railway was build to connect YS to other places. Also, I attended a seminar talking about the geology and volcano beyond the gorgeous park. I was not that interested in trains and railways, so I... More
