Educational!

Go here and see film before heading out to Bear Paw battlefield. Well done. Park ranger was excellent, very knowledgeable and he had only been on the job 4 months!

We stopped here on our way to the Bear Paw Battlefield since the interim visitor center is located here. The museum itself is a hidden treasure. It has many exhibits from when this area was first settled with homesteaders and gives a good feel for what made this town important along the highline. Well worth the stop.

The Blaine County Museum serves as the visitor center for the Bear Paw Battlefield (part of the Nez Perce Trail) south of Chinook, so you should stop at the museum to see the film if you plan to tour the battlefield (which I highly recommend). However, the museum is also home to extensive and impressive displays about life on the... More

A very well done museum of the area. Covers a wide range of topics. The video is a must see if at the museum.

This museum has very nice displays and though small is open and roomy even though packed with displays. We are finding the local museums to be as interesting as the glitzy fee required locations. Nice in a state that charges to see natural features and state parks.

You have to see this museum once in your lifetime if you get the chance. It's really remarkable what they have done with a small museum.

This museum was free and there was a great movie "Battle of BearPaw Battlefield - Nez Perce Park". We learned so much about Chief Joseph, which helped us in the rest of our travels. The displays were very well done, especially the tar paper house.

Driving Hwy 2 - the highline - in Northern Montana gives one plenty of time to ponder where to stop for a break. If you like museums, the Blaine County Museum in Chinook, Montana is a winner. It was a pleasure to discover a small town that took so much pride in their local museum. The quality of the material... More

This was a museum that was on the small side, but it was free! They did take donations, and by the time we were done, we felt they deserved a small donation. The best part about it was the movie they showed that talked about the flight and fight of the Nez Perce and the Cavalry. It was very informative... More
