This is an amazing place to stay if you like history and Architecture. This mansion was built in 1884 and took 4 years to complete, The history of it's original owner, W. C. Clark is amazing, not to mention the history of the house. From it's rare hand carved wood, hand painted ceilings, shower - yes there was running water in... More

I love the way the owners kept the history of this place, furniture, silverware, dishes, ornaments. You will be amazed how many details and great pieces of history you can find here!

On the recommendation of a friend, we spent the night here. What a treat! The proprietors are a very friendly couple who live there and run the place. Keeping it in the great shape it's in must be a tiresome task! After breakfast, we were treated to a tour by a very knowledgeable tour guide. Who would've thought that Butte... More

I've taken several mansion tours around the country. Having preserved both the original exterior and interior architecture as well as original &/or period-authentic furnishings makes this one of the better ones. Clarke's definitely had one of the strangest showers I've ever seen. Our tour guide was very informative. Her stories about the wealth, power, ambitions, corruption, scandals of William Clarke... This mansion is a very nice experience, and with the history behind it and the overall Butte area, worth going into

Tremendous look into the way the mega-wealthy lived in the early 1900s. You tour several levels of the home. Unbelievable detail, stained glass windows, staircase took 4 years to build (by hand!)

Stayed in Abigale's room for three nights. Really enjoyed the ambience of the place and the friendliness of the hosts. The breakfasts were very good.

The William Clarke house is pretty remarkable and the one hour tour is well worth your time and money. The house has some amazing history and the tour guide did a wonderful job of taking us through the days of the Copper Kings. It’s an active bed and breakfast, although not our style personally. However, each room is loaded with... More

Walk up the granite stairs and ring the bell, then enter a time capsule from the 1800's. A time when quality craftsmanship and innovative ideas were combined to create this beautiful mansion, belonging to Copper King William Andrews Clark. Few of the original furnishings are in the mansion today. However, a lot of period pieces are crammed into every room.... More

Uncountable wealth. This home--utterly beautiful and arrogant--was the least of the homes of this man. That said, he was a self-made man and supported his community. This is a beautiful and interesting home. Sadly, there is some damage to a couple of the ceilings and the original furnishings have mostly been lost. The furnishings that are in place are lovely...
