Springfield's most enchanting events venue offering history tours, ghost tours, murder mysteries, holiday events, private rentals. Must attend a scheduled event to visit the castle. Go to the website for schedule and to make reservations or click Book Now on this site. Please note, general hours of operation on this site are incorrect. Trip Advisor format is unable to show event start times other than through Viator Book Now button. We are trying to work with them to correct this issue. Since it requires a system change on their part, it will take a while. Please check the website, come to a scheduled event, pay the entrance fee; otherwise, you will not be able to visit the castle. Fee varies depending on the event. Discount for on-line reservations. Higher if paid at the time of arrival.

It was an informative tour learning the history of the building. We enjoy history tours like this and the building was beautiful. Very impressive that it is maintained by only two women, a mother and daughter. The only negative and it's really not a negative...More

My husband is an avid Ghost Hunter TV show fan and was pleasantly surprised when we met up with friends for one of the ghost tours featured at the castle. They have the group sit and listen for a bit at the beginning to get...More

This place was really cool and interesting! It's haunted, they say. We took the Saturday night ghost tour. It's about an hour long and you get to go all over the castle and even through a tunnel with the tour guide who was very knowledgeable...More

My sister and have lived locally for years but had never seen the castle. We decided to go check it out yesterday and we're pleasantly surprised. We had no idea the 100+ year old castle had such a diverse background. The owner and docent was...More

Pythian Castle has a wonderful history... much of it was completely unknown to us prior to our visit. From the original Knights of Pythian orphanage to the current uses, there is and was a lot going on there. The role the facility played during WW2...More

This is a great story to hear. From Pythians to foreign prisoners of war, this castle has seen some history. The backstory was great but not a place to frequent often.

The tour of this castle was good. The history is rich but the current owner is unsure of where to take the castle. The decor is not of any era, it's kind of cheap. But if you ignore those things, the history of this building...More

Despite arriving 45 minutes after the advertised opening time, we found the road leading to the castle chained off and a "CLOSED" sign attached. Since there was a public parking lot next door we parked and got out to take some pictures of the exterior....More

We will be passing through this area on an awkward Wednesday afternoon in October so if there aren't enough people for a tour, can we at least stroll the grounds and take some photos without the tour? Thanks!

Actually, October is very busy tour time here and likely to have a tour minimum met. But, you do have to take a tour or attend an event to get on-site.

They vary from day to day. Your best bet is to visit their website or give them a call. I went to a 4:30 tour. We were the only ones there :)
