I live in St. Louis. It's mainly young people bar hopping with a good meal. There are a lot of gays, cross dressers and punk types. It's basically almost anything goes. It's where "Fudpuckers" started before they respelled the name to clean it up (I think you can guess what the original name was) and the first any sex restrooms... More

Nice hangout for afternoons eating outside in nice weather or for nightlife in the evenings. An occasional incident outside with crime as it is closer to the city. Recommend traveling in Groups. of 2 or more.

Wonderful old architecturally pleasing homes with many terrific local restaurants and some shops. Bounded by Barnes-Jewish hospital and Forest Park. Has a different feel than many other St. Louis neighborhoods. Could come here for every meal in a visit and find a different good option each time. Not a lot of lodging options, though, and those that are here felt... More

The Central West End has it all - fine dining (Wild Flower is great!), pubs (Tom's), upscale bars (Whiskey House and Sub Zero, to name only 2) and great shopping (Left Bank Books - unbeatable). Great for a nice walk, great for outdoor dining and people watching. Lovely old homes, fascinating people, a blend of cultures and ages - young... More

The Christmas decorations on the turn of the century homes were charming as were at a few of the retail businesses. A short walk away from the Euclid Avenue crowds and through residential streets, it is a wonderful place for an after dinner stroll. Food at most places is average at best, yet a few places stand out, Pi Pizza,... More

Probably the best place for visitors to St. Louis. Adjacent to the huge Forest Park and in the middle of great restaurant, shopping, antique shop, etc. area. There are a lot of hotels from the iconic Chase to modern Hyatt, Marriott, etc. Area has pretty much everything you could want.

The Good: Fantastic restaurants (Wild Flower, The Tenderloin Room), great bars (Llewelyn's Tom's, Sub Zero Vodka Bar), amazing cultural sites in Forest Park, the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, antique shops, Left Bank Books...a terrific neighborhood. Very unique and very diverse. Most everything is within walking distance and this neighborhood is great for walking. The Bad: Parking is atrocious and... More

This was a super cute section of town. Found this too late to investigate the whole area, but had a very nice meal at one of the restaurants and enjoyed browsing a couple of the stores. We already decided next time we visit St Louis we want to stay in this area!
