The Museum of Westward Expansion closed, pending installation of all new museum exhibits. As of March 2, 2015, entry-only ticket or tram ticket required to enter Arch.

The nation's tallest monument at 630 feet, the Gateway Arch has beckoned visitors since June 1967. The Gateway Arch commemorates Thomas Jefferson and the role St. Louis played in the westward expansion of the United States.

A visit to St. Louis isn't complete without standing at the Arch's base and playing professional photographer, but the view from the outside is only half of the experience. Attractions within the Arch include the Journey to the Top (the last tram leaves one hour before closing); educational programs (will be housed at the Old Courthouse); award-winning documentary movie, Monument to the Dream; and a gift shop.

Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Note: the address shown is for the Old Courthouse which is acting as the Gateway Arch Ticketing and Visitor Center throughout construction. Pedestrian entrance to the Arch Grounds is at Walnut Street at Memorial Drive or via the Grand Staircase from the riverfront.

This was the highlight of our trip to St. Louis. Even though the outside was under construction the inside experience was well worth it. Watching the movie and how they built the arch was amazing. Our entire family really enjoyed this outing.

We went on a Saturday afternoon on Mother's Day weekend during a Cards-Cubs game (4:20 PM). We had a mix up with directions due to construction road closures, and the parking situation was horrendous with a mixture of parking closures, the baseball game, and college graduations downtown. We ended up having to jog to the Arch because it took so... More

The arch is amazingly beautiful. However, the pod you have to get to go up in is incredibly small. Your head will most likely touch the ceiling of the pod and you will be grouped with other tourists. If you like your personal space this is not the event for you. If you are clausterphobic this is not for you.... More

I had a day to spare in St Louis so i thought i would check out the Gateway Arch.. Walking through the open part of the park you are presented with this awesome structure, it is very impressive and on a nice day (as this was), it looks brill with the sun shinning off of it.. The ticket price was... More

Arch was epic. Kids loved the "pod" elevator. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency. Walked to Arch. Had so much fun we will be back.

What a great symbol of our country's exploration of the west. It is a testament to our engineering skills. When you watch the movie and see all of the obstacles they had to overcome to make this happen you will be amazed.

It is quite an amazing feat how the Arch was constructed and even more so that zero people lost their lives during construction. Thank you for visiting this great symbol and posting a review. More

First time to the arch in St. Louis and was not disappointed. Trip to the top was not what I expected but very unique by riding in a tiny little pod. Once at the top though it was amazing. Views of the city and the Mississippi River were great. Stay for the little movie presentation for its very informative. Would... More

Our timing was bad for a visit here due to the construction in the area but it was still a wonderful visit. The ride up to the top in an extremely cramped elevator car was quite an experience and we were glad we were seated with another couple like ourselves. Small kids would have been a nightmare. The views from... More

Lots of varied pedestrian trails make for a great workout complete with elevation climb, stairs, hills, and views. I went for a 3 mile run every day during my trip, varying the route and enjoying the interconnected trails.

Great to hear all of the various trails and updated walk ways are being enjoyed. There is walking path on the Eads bridges just north of the park that will allow you to cross the Mississippi River into Illinois. Thanks for visiting and posting a review. More
