Such a gem of a winery. Worth the trip into the woods. Sweet German vintner with the best wine for miles. Go see him, you won't be disappointed.

I had read the other excellent reviews so was expecting greatness! Off the beaten path was an understatement. Looked abandonded. The building was extremely run-down, over-run with bushes, smelled damp and moldy, the bathroom had not been cleaned in years, and there was a dead mouse on the floor near a cat. Our "dump bowl" had a dead fly floating... More

Excellent winery to visit! It's a small place with great wine and the owner is wonderful. Hidden path, but well worth the trip!

You'll miss the driveway if you're not paying attention. Off the beaten path, good wines. Interesting German winemaker. Stepping into the tasting room was like going back in time. Many things sitting untouched for years. Many things haven't been updated (not that they need to be). Some seating outside if you want to enjoy a bottle on site.

Heinrich is a great guy and an amazing vintner. Over the decades he has made some fantastic wines and he has stacks of award winning wines with the Heinrichshaus label to prove it. Treasure this man and his wine!

Heinrichshaus Winery is a small winery with excellent wine. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about wine, and so you will learn a lot. Or you can just bring a picnic, get a bottle of your favorite wine, and spend the afternoon at a table under the trees.

I love the atmosphere at this winery. They don't serve food except in the spring and fall festivals but you can meet complete strangers and enjoy a bottle of wine outside. I recommend going through his speech about each wine. He's passionate about his product.

The way up the lovely, heavily wooded drive through Missouri's finest fall foliage set the tone for a joyous adventure. Our host, Heinrich, was both informative and fun to chat with while tasting the fine wines offered there. The whites were really the stars of the show, with the traminette playing the lead. Not usually a fan of even lightly... More

This is a small place off the beaten path and easy to miss. We drove by it twice before we saw the sign. After a short drive through the woods you come to the building; It doesn't look like much but your German host knows his stuff and we found him educational and entertaining. Also, his wine, mostly reds, is... More

Owned and run by Heinrich, a German transplant who knows his grapes. His wines are wonderful and he is a gem of a host. Watch for the sign, you will miss it the first time but can turn around shortly. Worth the short trip out of St James proper. Prost!
