What a gem!

Well preserved excellent example of FLW Usonian, especially impressive collection of furniture and textiles. Hidden gem, but worth the trip

Fans of architect Frank Lloyd Wright will be impressed with his Usonian home in the heart of Kirkwood, MO. The house was designed for Russell and Ruth Kraus around 1950 and they were its only residents for more than 40 years until a group of people dedicated to its preservation raised enough money to save it from developers. The unique... More

I've seen many Frank Lloyd Wright houses, including many Usonions. This one is very special. It is larger and more complex than most and has beautiful grounds. The owner had incredible dedication to building this house and ensuring its fidelity to Mr Wright's vision. Our docent was an architect, which added greatly to the understanding. This is definitely worth the... More

This home is absolutely fantastic if you're into original mid century anything! The details and craftsmanship to build this angular house is incredible! And that the interior furnishings were so well kept all these years is just amazing! Our tour host was adorable and so knowledgeable. Thank you for a wonderful time.

We have visited several FLW houses. This was the smallest. Size didn't matter because the design was awesome. Only two flaws with this house. Two of the openings, one in the kitchen and one in the bathroom that you had to turn sideways to get through. Other than that we loved the design.

For those interested in architecture, particularly of Frank Lloyd Wright, this house is a most see. It is a hidden treasure in the St. Louis suburb of Kirkwood. The tour is interesting and describes the history and unique features of the house. Good for family and friends. Reservations are required.

This is a wonderful example of Frank Lloyd Wright's work. Most of the interior of the house is original!! I understand that the people who had it built did not cook much, so the kitchen looks like it did when it was new! You have to make a reservation to tour it, it is small, so only a few people... The was my first Frank Lloyd Wright home to visit, and I hope not my last. The tour is kept to a small number (around 10 people), so you have a quality tour. The guide was very knowledgeable about the house, and our party of 3 enjoyed it immensely. The home is very unique and ahead of it's time. The... More

We enjoyed this private tour. Our goal is to see all the public Frank Lloyd Wright houses in the US. This house did not disappoint! The docent, a retired architect was knowledgeable, engaging and you could tell he loved volunteering at this house. I keep wanting to see more from Frank. I don't always agree with his furniture choice but... More
