I am extremely disappointed that adults are not allowed entrance to the center without a child in the group. I am disabled, so building LEGO is one of my biggest hobbies since I am often stuck at home due to illness and physical limitations. We called ahead explaining this circumstance to whomever was in charge and they were unwilling to make an exception. I tend to gravitate toward attractions meant for children due to my health. I do not think it is fair to not allow adults into the facility. The only thing I enjoyed about this place was the retail store. They had a wide selection of LEGO sets that you do not find in other LEGO stores.

We completely understand that not being able to visit Legoland Discovery Center is frustrating - we love playing with LEGO too! The rationale, as we explained, is that this attraction is designed specifically for 3-10 year olds to enjoy - everything is kid-sized. We consulted with parents to agree this policy to ensure enjoyment for kids, as well as their safety, based purely upon age and nothing else.
Your party was offered a complimentary tour of Legoland Discovery Center so that you could see exactly why this policy is in the best interests of everyone involved. Furthermore we also have periodic Adult nights where we open the attraction exclusively for adults to enjoy with changes to make it more enjoyable for an older crowd.

The facilities were sold out for the day so it was extremely busy. One of the rides was not working and one of our kids was too little to ride the other. We had gotten a better deal with the dual purchase of a ticket with Sea Life which we also don’t really recommend. The climbing area was rated for 4-12 year olds. With only a tiny corner rated for 3 year olds. With so many people, lines were long and it was difficult to maneuver around. It looked like a big arcade and was extremely loud. If you are into that you may find joy in a visit, the only thing really for adults was the Starbucks area. Neither of our kids are that into legos, so we thought there would be more Lego things built to look at, but that was not the case. We were done after about 30 minutes, but it took another 5-10 to find the exit and leave.

Suuuuuper overpriced. $100 for 4 people, full price even for adults, and just not a lot of bang for your buck. The tornado simulator and VR thing aren’t even included in admission. The ride lasts maybe 20 seconds. Lego builds are dusty. There are better things to spend $100 on.

While it’s a bit entertaining, I actually found it lacking in Lego build opportunities. The part my niblings enjoyed most was the playground & you can find those for free at any park. And why list a separate ticket for kids and adults when it’s the same price. There are cheaper options at crown center that I would recommend.

We were all excited on Saturday morning 6/28 to go to Lego Land! We got there at about 11a and were all ready to have some fun and then we encountered the first of many lines. There were signs on the door that said something about higher than expected visitors leading to longer wait times. Boy was that a misnomer! Someone in front of us said that they were told the general admissions line would be at least 1 1/2 hours - so that lead me to get onto my favorite Trip Advisor to see some recommendations. I read that it's best to get a pre-paid priority pass online, so that's what we did. Only problem was the next available time was 4p. So we ended up purchasing that ticket and playing around at Crowne Center for the day. Fast forward to 3:55 - we get into yet another line. An employee came around and looked at our phones for the passes and said "ok you'll go in soon" - this happened several times. We ended up waiting in the line outside until about 4:25. Then that followed by waiting at the register to have them print out our tickets that we already purchased - another 10 minutes. Followed by another winding line to get a picture (why do they insist on doing this - it takes longer and is a waste of money). Followed by another line to get on the elevator to go upstairs. Then we thought we were home free - wrong! We then saw how they made legos and which ended in another line to get on the first "ride" - a laser tag activity. Let me suggest to everyone - bypass this and come back later. By the time we actually ended up in Lego Land it was about 5:30p, an hour and a half after our 4p "admittance". The area itself is VERY small. There's a laser tag ride where you "kill" things to save the princess. Then there's a ride where you peddle to raise your kart. There's a mini-legoland that was kind of neat with smaller displays. Then there was a play area for the kids - mind you if you have a child any smaller than 3 foot or any taller than 4 foot you're out of luck. They had an area where you could build lego cars and test them, and a small area of the more "girlie" legos. Then you could also wait in line to see the movie. Otherwise, that's it. $68 later for 2 adults and two children (ages 5 & 6), we've wasted a lot of money and time waiting. I'd say unless you have a dandy coupon, young children who fit the height requirements, and a lot of time on your hands - skip this!

The workers were rude, made us stand in freezing cold weather with 50 kids for 30 minutes then made us us the back door. I will never recommend a large group to ever visit this place . The lady at the food area was very rude not only rude actually tried to fight me over ice. I asked her not to put a lot of ice in my cup she went off. They treated us and our kids horribly.

As suggested by Legoland's website, my family of 5 visited on a weekday after 2 pm. There was a separate line for priority ticket holders but there is no signage marking the lines. There were approximately 20 people ahead of us in line and we waited almost an hour to buy our tickets. My 4 year old had to go to the bathroom while we were waiting in line and when I asked an employee where the closest facilities were, I was directed to Crown Center across the street. So, off I go on a nearly 15 minute excursion. Of course, while I was gone, the line had miraculously moved but the rest of my family wasn't allowed inside to buy the tickets. I specifically asked the employee about this before I left and she assured me that they could buy the tickets and wait for me inside. After buying tickets, you wait for an elevator ride to the Lego Factory, which is a small room with uninspired exhibits and a free souvenir Lego. Then, we turned the corner and waited in another slowly moving line. At the end of this line is a point and shoot ride that is entertaining but I had no idea what we were waiting for until it was nearly our turn. After the ride, you finally get to a bathroom so I'm really glad that I hiked across the street beforehand or we would have had a real mess! The Lego models of Kansas City buildings are neat as is the 4D movie but the rest is a real disappointment. If you take out the 2 rides and the movie, then every Lego store that I've been to is much better and free. Throughout the whole experience, the employees failed to impress as well. The worst was the line manager (I really wish I knew his name). A mother was there with her cancer-stricken son. When she checked beforehand she was given erroneous information and was forced in the line outside on a 95 degree day. She advised them that her son would become very ill in the heat and everyone in line was asking that she and her son be allowed to move to the front and inside to the air conditioning but the line manager kept telling her and everyone else that it wasn't fair to make an exception. The entire line was livid at this jerk, I was getting ready to leave, my 4 year old was crying hysterically because she wanted
to visit Legoland and finally the lady and her son were allowed in front. Several patrons were asking for his business card and sure hope he is fired after all the complaints he is sure to receive. I have never before witnessed such rudeness and lack of compassion.

I went with my two kids (11 & 9) and booked my "priority" tickets online beforehand, saving us 10% & granting us access to the "Priority" entrance line. Well, there is NO "priority" entrance line...that is just a gimmick to get people to buy their tickets in advance to help speed up the lines. I found an employee outside by the line & told her I had already purchased my tickets online & where was the Priority line? I was told it was the same general admission line. So the whole "Priority Line" is a farce. They need to remove that little blurb from their website because it is misleading. However, we visited mid-week after 2 p.m. so the lines were not very long. If we went on a busy weekend with long lines, I don't think I'd be very happy waiting 30 min. just to get in. Legoland is not in the same building as all the shops, restaurants & Coterie Theater. It is across the street next to the outdoor fountains and the skating arena. After scanning our tickets, we were ushered into an elevator which brought us to the Factory Tour. Don't expect anything big here...it was just a quick 5-minute overview of how Legos are made. You will not actually see them being made. Kind of informative...not very exciting. We then entered the Kingdom Quest Ride. We boarded our "chariot" and shot at skeletons, spiders & rocks with our laser guns and score points for every target hit. It was similar to the Buzz Lighyear ride @ Disneyworld, just not in 3D or nearly as amazing. Very short ride, but my kids really liked it. We strolled through Miniland which was a replica of Kansas City architecture made out of Legos. It featured The Plaza, Kansas City Speedway, Livestrong Soccer, Kauffman Arena, Arrowhead Stadium, city streets, a church, various buildings, an orchestra, etc. There was also a scene from The Wizard of Oz with the farmhouse in the tornado, Munchkinland, Emerald City, witches castle, etc. Some displays were also interactive. This area was made with great attention to detail and we spent a lot of time in here. Lots of "oooh's & ahhhh's" from my kids. Very cool... Next was Merlin's Apprentice ride. It was similar to the Dumbo ride at Disneyworld, but again on a much smaller scalenot as. The kids boarded the flying Lego machines & had to pedal (like a bike) fast in order for the flying machine to go up in the air while it spinned around & around. Kids liked it, but a very short ride. We then went to the Lego Master Building Academy. We sat in a room & had an instructor hand out little ziploc baggies filled with Lego pieces. He then instructed us how to make a Lego turtle out of the pieces. After your piece is made & you are interested in keeping (purchasing) it, they will put it back in the ziploc bag w/your name on it, send it to the giftshop & you can purchase it before you leave for $5. If not, just leave it there & they will disassemble it. The Lego turtle was adorable & my daughter kept it for $5. Classes are approx. every 25 minutes. It was fun and my kids liked it. So did I... The Lego Cinema, which features the 4-D Lego, movie was broken. We arrived at 2 p.m. & it was broken for our entire stay. Apparently it broke down at 11:00 a.m., but there was no mention of this as a courtesy when we entered the center. There was also no sign in the front of the Cinema saying it was not working. I saw many people walking by wondering what the deal was with the Cinema and why no show times were listed. I found an employee & he told it had not been working for several hours. We were bummed out as we were really looking forward to seeing the movie. I asked a manager if they were offering discounted tickets for a return visit to see the movie and he said "No, no refunds". I did not expect a refund, but at least a discount in ticket price to make up for the inconvenience of the movie not working during our visit. Again, the answer was no. We'd have to pay the full admission price & come back again. Not impressive. Next, over to the Lego City which was a big playscape similar to the ones in McDonald's, but larger, cleaner & more fun and different Lego-related things for the kids to do. My 2 kids spent at least an hour in here & since it was not crowded, almost had the whole thing to themselves. Your children will need SOCKS in order to play in this, so make sure you bring a pair. If not, they can be purchased for less than $2 at the Cafe.
Lego Racers: Build & Test was also reallly fun. There were several bins containing lots of assorted Lego pieces & wheels to build your own racing car. After you build your car, you can then send it down several speed ramps or race it against other cars, complete with a timer so they can see how long it took he car to reach the finish line. The kids loved this, and so did a lot of the parents who were building their own race cars, including myself:) There was a small section for the girls with the Lego Friends. Little pink tables with bins & bins filled with Lego pieces to make cakes, cupcakes, etc. I saw a little Karaoake machine where they could sings songs as well. There were actually a lot of random spots where little ones could just sit in a tub filled with Legos and build & create. In one section, the can build Lego buildings & then have an "earthquake" shake their building to see if it can withstand the tremor or if it will fall down. There was a Lego Duplo section for the little kids next to the cafe as well. After building the racing cars, the kids decided they wanted to go back in the Lego City playscape since they had so much fun in it. I sat at a nearby bench & my daughter came back upset because they would not let her in. I walked up to the entrance with her & a female employee told us she was too tall to play in it. She's 11. Apparently the playscape has height requirements to keep the bigger kids away, but no one measured her the first time & she went right in. I explained to the attendant that my daughter was just playing in there for almost an hour and she snottily replied "Well, she shouldn't have been allowed in in the first place, M'am". I found a manager, explained the situation, and she was then allowed in. You can't let a child play in there for an hour, then 15 minutes later tell her she's too tall to play in it. Gimme a break. Rest rooms were located next to the Lego Racers & were clean. Nothing seemed dirty or germ-ridden during our entire stay, but that might be because the place is so new. Cafe prices didn't seem way overpriced. Bottled water cost me $2.15. We stopped at the store/gift shop on the way out and they had a great selection of Lego sets and assorted Lego items....none of which you could find at Target or Wal-mart. All in all, my kids had a terrific time, with the exception of the movie not working & my daughter being told she could not play in Lego City. We spent a good 4 hours there & it was not remotely crowded. I am sure this is different during the weekends. Once school is out for the summer, it will become increasingly more crowded. Top your visit off with a nice meal at the Crayola Cafe. Food was really good!

Our nine-year-old great-nephew and our two-year-old great-niece had a great time. The long lines outside caused me to worry that the facility would be too crowded, but we had lots of room to play. Legoland offers a variety of activities for all ages.
I do recommend that you buy online tickets in advance so that you can skip the long lines and get a discount.
If you park in Crown Center's parking garage, be sure to get your parking ticket validated at Legoland so you won't be charged; otherwise, you'll pay a $35 to $40 parking fee.
The only real complaint that I have about Legoland Discover Center is that the hand dryers in the bathroom are so loud that they hurt the children's ears and scare them. Parents were trying to come up with other ways to dry their hands and their children's hands so that they wouldn't have to use the loud dryers. A rather strange thing to install in a facility that is for children :(

On a summer weekend you will likely stand in lines for a total of 1-1/2 hours. It's very poorly managed logistically. This is not what you may be expecting. It's a winding, claustrophobic, series of small rooms with very few lego sculptures, and none much over 5' tall. It's a combination of two small and pathetic carnival rides, a few sculptures and several various stations where kids can mess with Legos. The noise is unbearable and may be about 5 times less than you picture in your head in pure scope of exhibit. By far the worst tourist attraction I've ever visited. Our boys (11) thought it was lame. If you can tolerate the lines, the very high price, the noise and if you greatly lower your expectations, then you and your very young kids might like it, but never go during the busy summer season.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on Trip Advisor.
We are terribly sorry to hear that your recent visit to LEGOLAND Discovery Center Kansas City did not meet the expectations of you and your family.
As a family entertainment center designed for famiies with children age 3-10, our goal is to provide guests with a wonderful experience that includes two LEGO-themed rides, a 4D cinema, a Model Builder Academy in addition to a variety of building areas and model displays.
During the summer season and weekend mornings, the center does tend to be busy and we strive to insure convenient entry. I apologize this was not the case with your family.
We greatly value the opinions of all of our visitors and will use your comments to improve in the future.

What happens if I miss, or arrive late to my pre-selected arrival time?

We just paid and went in but we paid a little extra for the better package too. Worth it to the kids once, but wasn't much to hold their attention, so there won't be a second visit.

Can you shop in the LEGO store there without paying admission? My kids are too old for this place.

Hi,
Yes, the gift shop has it's own separate door from the entrance to the attractions.
Thanks

Is there enough to do here to keep 2 boys ages 10 and 12 busy and having fun or is this geared towards younger kids?
Written 2 March 2016
Hi Shelly - Thanks for thinking of our attraction. Our attraction is geared towards children 3-10 years old. There is enough to keep them both busy, but the attraction may not appeal to the 12 year old as much as the 10 year old. We just launched a LEGO Movie 4D Movie short film that appeals to everyone! So, if they are big LEGO Movie fans, that is worth the trip itself. I hope that helps. Call if you have any questions.

Closing time is at 5pm. Does everything shut down at that time or is that simply the last time allowed for entrance?
Written 31 January 2016
I'm not sure but would suspect that you would be herded to the exit or store quickly at closing.
