I stayed in this area on a recent trip. The area is very nice with some shops and places to eat. Also for a walk.

Westport is supposed to be where the wagons headed west from. Now it has one covered wagon as a reminder. It is a great place for night life and there are several good resturants. Not far from " The Plaza'.

Westport is an eclectic, "hip" area full of interesting and unusual shops, restaurants, galleries, clubs and more. Street parking can be tough to find but there are garages and lots. Hop out and plan to spend the afternoon exploring on foot. Head there in the evening to catch local bands and events. Grab a cafe seat and just people-watch. Imagine an in-land New Orleans, minus the French architecture, minus the carriage rides, minus the fountains, churches and other tourist attractions. So basically some filthy, odious streets, old bars and lots of noisy people.
