Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We loved this more intimate setting to view the contemporary art. I had visited a few months ago with a school group and thoroughly enjoyed the exhibitions. When my wife and I visited today, three of the galleries had new exhibits. We loved it! The artwork was incredible and we love the mixed media pieces. One area allowed you to see how the featured artist creates her pieces. I believe next time we will get a table at Café Sebastienne. The walls are covered with amazing pieces, with a nice men's selection.

Lovely to spend time here. Wonderful to see school children come in groups to learn about art and the artists. The museum does a great job in organizing these groups of children.

We hopped on a bus (MAX) in front of the Crown Center, and were on our way to visit The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. However, when you get off that bus, you must go by the Kemper Museum to get to the other one. So, since we were "tourists" and had time, we popped in here. We loved it. So spacious, so airy, so uncrowded and uncluttered. The art displayed was easy to appreciate and enjoy. Sometimes, one feels overwhelmed. Not here. It was perfect.
We spent more time than planned, and decided to have lunch at their Café Sebastienne. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere so befitting this Museum. Loved all the Chihuly art works displayed close to the ceilings.
The Museum Gift Shop has so many unique and special items. We do not go around spending $60 for decorative pillows, but found one by a local artist (Tammy Smith) with a lovely illustration of Union Station. Had to buy it as our youngest daughter had just gotten married there, and that was the reason we were in Kansas City. Will present it to her and our new son-in-law for Christmas, and we know they will love it.

Free admission, very relaxed atmosphere. If you like modern contemporary art, this is worth a visit. All the galleries are in one level, so accessibility is not an issue, also free parking nearby.

We had a great time taking in the different artists. I love the openness of this small gallery and the staff was so helpful! Free parking and free will donation. We also loved the gift shop and picked up a few things!

Free admission. Free parking. Interesting exhibits that change periodically. What else could you want?
Frankly, I'm not sure why someone would rate this venue lower than excellent.

I loved the main gallery but didn't care for the other spaces. They seemed like second thoughts. I wasn't even sure if we were supposed to go into one of them. The main gallery, however, contained some very nice work and was a very pleasing space. Stella, Warhol, O'Keefe, Frankenthaler, Thiebaud and others. Stopped in the restaurant for a coffee break and ended up with a delightful peach and plum crisp with ginger ice cream. Generous, warm, homemade crisp with a delicious oaty topping. If the restaurant's savories are as good as the sweets, I'd gladly come back. The shop is small but laden with lovely items including a nice selection of books, toys, jewelry, pottery, leather goods - even a few (very expensive) pieces of gorgeous Chihuly glass. Easy to find a gift. Free entry. Off-street parking.

This museum is a jewel box - small enough to really cover in less than an hour. Has a wonderful cafe - be sure to have a coffee and a bite to eat. A real gem. Has free parking (one building away) to the right - so look for it.

Being from the NY/NJ Metro area, it was an incredible treat to visit a museum of this quality absolutely free! The parking was free, the admission was free. This is huge coming from what I am used to on the east coast. It was also the very first time I was able to view everything there was to see in about an hour. This should by no means detract from the quality of their pieces/exhibits. It just happens to be a manageable inventory of art, and it was very satisfying to be able to see it all in one visit. There are beautiful Chilhuly pieces scattered here and there throughout the museum. We were lucky enough to catch Laura McPhee's "River of No Return" exhibit. You have to see it to believe it! There are quite a few others that I won't write about here, for fear of spoiling it for you! Go if you can! It is a rare treat...

It is not a large museum, but what they do, they do very well. Some Chihuly glass compliments this very modern stucture, and the "new" feel that you get while taking in the art. So new in fact, that I think that you could have a conversation with (nearly) every artist that has work displayed. A nice contrast to the Nelson-Atkins museum.

We found easy (free) parking right by the rear doors. The lot was still open when we left.
