With 40,000 works of art, the Nelson-Atkins is best known for its new Bloch Galleries, featuring Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art, plus its Asian art, photography, American paintings, American Indian and Egyptian galleries. The Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park, a beautiful setting for a walk or picnic, is an oasis in the city and home to notable sculptures.

Lots to see and do here. Best Besting warm weather to see the stuff on the lawn like the glass maze and statues are fun. There is a good modern wig too

The Nelson-Atkins is a truly wonderful art museum! Fantastic exhibits, permanent and traveling, great staff/docents, beautiful setting. Indoor and outdoor accessibility. Just a beautiful place to visit!

If you are into art then the Nelson-Atkins is the place to visit. So many world class paintings along with wonderful exhibits. Hard to believe that a place like this exists in Kansas City, Missouri but it does. Totally worth a visit and best of...More

We've visited the "Nelson" on both of our visits to Kansas City. This art museum has no admission charge for its own exhibits - and their catalog of artwork is incredible. In October, we saw old Masters and Impressionist works as well as beautiful sculpture....More

It was an opportunity to see some of Picasso’s best work. We enjoyed the visit, the kids were less enthusiastic. We took the opportunity to see another exhibition were some jade art was on display. Quite impressive.

The MAX (Metro Area Express) runs north and south to all the main destinations. It stops at 45th and Main, and you can walk east past the Kansas City Art iInstitute to the Nelson-Atkins
