Seemed a bit out of the way from where we were staying. Mass transit does not take you there very well. A decent museum, but not very big.

Don't miss this art museum if in Kansas City! Fantastic, huge collection of both regional, national, and international art. Easy to walk around. Wonderful restaurant in an absolutely beautiful setting that will make you feel as you have escaped to Italy.

What a wonderful museum! The museum is free and it rivals some of the better museum's I've been to in cities such as London and New York City. The impressionist area contains works by some of the biggest names in art history including several pieces by Monet including Water Lilies. This piece alone is worth the trip to the museum.... More

A good selection of art and installation pieces to while away a couple of hours while in Kansas City. There is an option to join guide tours which runs a couple of times per day at no additional cost

My teenage boy suggested the art museum and we self toured wherever he wanted to go, took pics and had a blast. We didn't do a structured guided tour but explored the. Holdings on our own. He loved it- grounds were beautiful!

A year or two before I retired I had read about the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art's recent renovation of their ancient art galleries. I immediately added it to my museum must see list even though I wasn't sure when I would finally work it into my photography schedule. My opportunity finally came when I signed up for a study tour... We recently went to view the Bloch Galleries at the Nelson. The artwork was beautiful and was interspersed with other works not necessarily owned by the Bloch's. There are guides that are available to provide more detail about the paintings and works or art

We enjoyed a lovely day here - the collection is excellent and comprehensive. The Bloch collection and the Asian art were highlights.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of art at the Nelson-Atkins. The new Bloch exhibit was breathtaking. The folks working at the museum were helpful and friendly. It's a vibrant place with visitors, art classes, and guided tours all co-mingling while surrounded by incredible art. It's not to be missed.

If you are in Kansas City, it wouldn't be right to skip the Nelson! It is closed on Monday and Tuesday, but Free all other days. Amazing place, with art for everyone and every taste. Speaking of taste, the Rozzelle Court lunch, alone, is worth the trip. Dessert and scones are my favs., but everyone in KC has a favorite.... More
