The Nelson-Atkins was a wonderful surprise when I moved to Kansas City from Los Angeles in the 1980s, at a time when I'd never been between the coasts. It's a fantastic, sophisticated, beautifully curated museum that ranks with the best of other American art museums. The addition of the Bloch building, which houses the Nelson's large and growing contemporary art... More

If you think art is only for the eyes, you are mistaken! The Nelson-Atkins ALWAYS extends the bound of art and now includes sonic art. Not only should you see the Multitude/Solitude photo exhibit, you should hear the Janet Cardiff Forty Part Motet! Truly a treat for the senses!!!!

Fantastic place to visit while in KC, and they offer wonderful free events for children and groups. Check their calendar if you're visiting, because they have wonderful exhibits.

The Nelson is one of the venues of which Kansas Citians are most proud. Of national acclaim, the new contemporary Block addition is stunning, with changing exhibits. The addition in the coming year of the Henry Block collection of Impressionists will be of monumental importance. The original gallery contains a wide display of the works of famous artists and sculptors.... More

If you are in town, definitely stop by for a visit. Lots of new contemporary art in the new addition to the museum. The Noguchi Sculpture Court alone is worth the visit.

The exhibits here provide interesting, thought provoking discussions. Very fun place to spend a day. My daughters and I spent a nice day here. We each had different interests and this museum was full of lovely exhibits. Everyone was helpful and we had a great time. Loved it!

Thank Deborah G
