Port Arthur Tour from Hobart

278 reviews
Get an in-depth tour of the UNESCO-listed Port Arthur Historic Site on this day trip from Hobart. History buffs will love learning about the history of the Australian convict site on an excursion designed to allow as much time and in-depth learning about the area in a single day. Many tours of Tasmania include a brief stop in Port Arthur, but this one provides deep exploration and plenty of time to ask questions.

Went to Pooley for a tasting feeling very expectant. Underwhelming is putting it mildly. They have three tasting options at $5, $15 & $25. There are between 4 - 6 (small) pours in these options which depend on the standard of the wines. We went the $15 option (so $30 for 2 of us). This option had two single vineyard pinots including the Cooinda pinot. The service was very slow which appeared to us to be due to not enough staff at a relatively busy time. They actually turned away some people who did not have a booking. The pourings were meagre which was the first problem. Second, we decided to buy one pottle to offset the tasting charge, only to be told that because we wanted to buy one bottle there would still be one tasting charge of $15. That was not stated in their conditions of tasting and is not consistent with the practices of other cellar doors. So ... slow service; aggressive pricing; and a nasty snip at the end when purchasing. A classic case of a producer leveraging off their reputation rather than considering the customer. A shame because this is not the Pooley we recall from a previous visit in 2017. Our advice would be to give them a miss and go to other cellar doors where people are treated better.

Easily, one of the greatest wineries of Tasmania, Pooley delivers on every wine that they undertake. Cellar door staff are knowledgeable and friendly, I would recommend a visit to every person visiting Southern Tasmania.

Awesome cellar door in a great setting. Wood fire pizza on weekends though we didn’t get a chance to try being a Tuesday. 3 different B wine flights - $5-$25 depending upon what you want to try - refunded against purchase. Super knowledgable tasting guides ( thank you Shelly) and the wines - well they are some of Tassie’s best. We had a great time!

Great wines and excellent service - James is an absolute legend and the wines were local which we loved! We just wanted a light experience and to taste some tasty wines and Pooley was perfect.
