This cellar door is located on the outskirts of Richmond and you get a sense of the history of the property driving up to the car park past the lovely Georgian convict-built sandstone house.

The cellar door is located in the old sandstone Coach House. There is also a bar outside with under cover and open lawn seating with a very pleasant picturesque view over the surrounding countryside.

There were a range of tastings available. Two of the offerings were $10 per person for a choice from 2 sets of 4 wines (one being a Pinot Grigio, a Riesling, a Pinot Noir and a Cane Cut Riesling and the other being two Rieslings - one from each of their two vineyards, a chardonnay and a Pinot Noir). There was also a $10 cost to taste two of the more premium wines (a chardonnay and a Pinot Noir), $10 for their top of the range Pinot Noir and $5 for their Syrah.

We ended up tasting several of the Rieslings, chardonnays and Pinot Noirs and all were very agreeable.

Our host (Joycee?) was very friendly and informative.

We will return when next in Hobart to enjoy pizza and a bottle on the lawn.

Visited for a gathering with friends and we were so happy with Pooleys. Lovely setting, staff were accommodating and friendly, wine + pizzas/cheese platters make for a perfect combo. Could not fault.

Pooley wine tasting was worth the visit. Staff so friendly, fun and highly knowledgeable. The wines, Chardonnay, Pinot and Riesling were all above average class. I left happily with my dozen choices.

There are two wines to try - Riesling and pinot noir, both were nice but not anything special, the tasting cellar is atmospheric because of the colonial building and the history but we just didn’t feel welcome. Maybe we got the staff at the wrong time but I got the impression that once we paid the cash they wanted us to leave. We had much better experiences elsewhere.

Hi Steve, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We're very sorry that you had a disappointing experience in our cellar door. We are quite well known for our Rieslings and Pinot Noirs, and we're in that awkward time of year where there's not a lot of Chardonnay or our other whites available. We have a few different styles of Riesling and Pinot Noir available for tasting, as well as a Sparkling and a Syrah but I'm sorry if you weren't given the opportunity to taste them. We always appreciate feedback, whether its good or bad, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you have anything further you would like to discuss.

We had a very informative and enjoyable wine tasting hosted by Rachel. The wines were all top notch but Rachel’s knowledge made it all the more interesting and it was lovely to hear about the family who own the winery and a little of their history too. Thank you Rachel, we had a really great time.

Coming back from Richmond we had no idea this winery was here but saw the sign & drove in. Had a great tasting with a lovely host who was extremely knowledgeable about the family and the winery. 10 out of 10
