Newfoundland & Labrador's Viking Trail from Corner Brook

Thousands of years of history come alive as you ferry across the Cabot Strait to explore the West Coast of Newfoundland & Labrador. Learn about ancient peoples-the Maritime Archaic and Dorset Indians at Port au Choix, the Vikings in L'Anse aux Meadows, and the Basque Whalers in Red Bay - as you meet the hospitable and friendly people of today. See the beauty of Gros Morne National Park - a UNESCO World Heritage Site and coastal fishing communities. Take a boat tour in St. Anthony (weather permitting) where you may see whales and, depending on the time of year, icebergs!

*Please note that our June 13 departure is bilingual English/German, and our August 15 departure is bilingual English/French

This has got to be one of the most beautiful places on this earth. Where else can you see a lighthouse, walk the trails, enjoy the beauty of the rugged coast and see whales. Icebergs too in the spring. You are also near a great gift shop, the Great Viking Feast in a sod hut, and an excellent restaurant. Something for everybody.

This is a great place to watch the ocean and see whales and dolphins if you are lucky - we were! There are seats and benches dotted around and you meet really friendly people too. Loved it.

We decided to come here before we left St Anthony's. It's a really nice spot. We sat on the bench for a while, walked on the board walk, and saw the sod building where they serve the Viking Feast in the evening. We met a local guy who said the whales come around every afternoon at 5 o'clock. Although we missed the whales, we really liked visiting this park.

This park out at the end of the road has a beautiful view out over the harbor and iceberg alley. During the spring there are plenty of icebergs to look at. They have a nice trail and boardwalk system set up through the park, so it is a nice place to walk. You can even hike up the side of the cliff some 400-500 steps for a terrific view of the whole area.

Walked the trail and really enjoyed the view. Well worth the stop. Went on to climb the Daredevil Trail. The whole area was a breathtaking treat! Tip: Wear good shoes.
