Newfoundland & Labrador's Viking Trail from Corner Brook

Thousands of years of history come alive as you ferry across the Cabot Strait to explore the West Coast of Newfoundland & Labrador. Learn about ancient peoples-the Maritime Archaic and Dorset Indians at Port au Choix, the Vikings in L'Anse aux Meadows, and the Basque Whalers in Red Bay - as you meet the hospitable and friendly people of today. See the beauty of Gros Morne National Park - a UNESCO World Heritage Site and coastal fishing communities. Take a boat tour in St. Anthony (weather permitting) where you may see whales and, depending on the time of year, icebergs!

*Please note that our June 13 departure is bilingual English/German, and our August 15 departure is bilingual English/French

Cartier's View Trail is a great little hike and can easily be combined with the Whale Watchers and Iceberg Alley Trails. All three trails only have a combined distance of around 1 km and all give some fantastic views out to sea and across St Anthony Harbour.

We should have planned more time to visit St Anthony. This area has many attractions and the rugged ocean coastline held wonders of whales and icebergs, not to forget the incredible food too. This northern tip of Newfoundland offered a lot. We had only had a few hours so we did the easy half hr trail that starts at the lighthouse. It was mostly board walk and it was a great place to see the St Anthony Harbour, icebergs and even a whale! There were many well maintained trails in and around the area. It was a beautiful spot to view St Anthony and the ocean.

This is a walking trail within Fishing Point Park. It offers views of the Saint Anthony harbor. It's also near the other Fishing Point trails. The trail is short, taking only 30 minutes or less to walk. Its starting point is near the other Fishing Point trails if you want to walk more.
