It's worth making the effort to go up the trail because there are a couple of viewing platforms at the top which amazing views.

The guide was very nice and told us about many plants and berries along our walk up the trail. You should go into the Grenfell House Museum when there also. It was excellent. The Trail is something to do while in ST. Anthony port as we were there on a cruise! Do NOT go to "The Mall" there is nothing there except a dollar store. Trust me it is NOT worth the walk to the Mall.

This trail starts from the Grenfell House just east of the hospital up the hill. If you walj up to the Grenfell House there is a map of the trail which starts from the deck at the back of the house. It is an easy trail with steps in some spots, has information boards along the way and claims to be not more than 8% grade. There are three look-outs. It was originally a trail for the hospital workers to use to relax after work. Near the top you can take a trail to the American base which is abandoned now heading south psst a lake and on south before connecting to a road which you can take toward the coast and back to town. We didn’t do the whole trail but went a ways past the lake, about 35 minutes from the turn off from the trail back to the Grenfell House. When we came back to go down the return trail we took the cut off marked to “Paddock” which was short and went to a clearing just above a housing area where there were raised beds with very healthy veggies - carrots, inions, broccoli, cabbage, potatoes. We walked on down past houses with enormous wood piles and handsome containers fir garbage at the end of most driveways. Really enjoyed our walk, getting into the woods, even though the trees were only about 30’ feet at most. Views of the town and harbor, also ocean, rolling forested hills and a couple lovely lakes.

The trail starts right behind the Grenfell House Museum and is only short at 1.2 kms and takes around 20-minutes. The trail leads up to the site of where the Tea House once stood and where Dr Grenfell, his wife and colleagues often took tea after finishing work. Sir and Lady Grenfell and some of his colleagues are buried near the site and memorial plaques are nearby. There are some fantastic views from the lookout, which is built on the site of the old tea house, over St Anthony harbour and beyond.

Enjoy great views but be prepared for a steep walk up to the "Tea Room" lookout. Nice walk through wooded area with little creeks running through.
