We spent a couple of hours walking around this beautiful village. It was during low season and a lot of places were closed down, so it was rather empty. However, this is one of the most beautiful little villages I have ever seen.

It is a lovely place. You can go thru the town in just a few hours. If you are there around sunset, stay and see it. It was just beautiful. Saborores restaurant was absolutely amazing. It's only open for limited times. Definitely worth a trip...More

We have stayed 4 nights at Monsaraz which is a wonderful and beautiful village. It is really genuine. From 11:00 am and 6:00 pm cars are forbidden within the walls which even better. One drawback : insufficient level of the restaurants at Monsaraz.

What a fabulous place this is!! Perched on top of a hill with stunning views all round and wonderful streets with interesting shops and restaurants. The castle is worth seeing, and only poses a problem on the higher walls for kids if you don’t hold...More

A not to be missed village for its beauty (AND views!). Charming little shops (does not feel “touristy”), and picture opportunities all through the village (including several “Selfie” pods to stand on for beautiful background pics). The views from the top are breath-taking (can see...More

This is the fairy tale village and castle from the nursery rhymes. A must -see. It’s clean, there’s plenty of parking and the condition of the castle is remarkable. There are a few shops, a few restaurants and more inns than I expected. The views...More

We took a day trip from Evora to visit this small village and were well rewarded. in our humble opinion, this has got to be the prettiest hilltop village in the Alentejo, if not all of Portugal. First, the drive up to village is stunning....More
