Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We took the time to visit the old abandoned part of the village and it was worth the effort. The only charge was for the car park 3€ (for 2 hrs) and the place was virtually empty. Some interesting ruins/buildings enroute to the church at the top. Worth the effort given the views afforded and the atmosphere of the abandoned village.

Please don’t waist your time in these overcrowded villages of the Luberon like Gordes...take the time to come to the old abandoned city of Oppède le Vieux. The labyrinthic walk through the village will take you to the old fort and and a rustic church at the top of the mountain. The city and the fortress are charming and there is no way even the most stone hearted people will not find the place extremely romantic!

An unexpected gem, a medieval village that is gradually being restored.perched on a hill and a healthy walk. There are a couple of restaurants in the lower part of the town. Just a handful of tourists. Makes a change from the other commercialised villages in the area.

The medieval fortress , at the top of the village on a rocky outcrop surrounded by greenery , is being restored by volunteers

The fortress can not be visited , but it is possible to go there and see the progress of the work of consolidation and uplift , tower , fortifications....

At the top of a rocky spur: the ruined fortress and the collegiate church. Beautiful panorama and pleasant walk in the quiet streets of this medieval village.

Very beautiful medieval village. The collegiate church and the fortress are perched on a rocky spur. Only the collegiate church can be visited, the fortress is a restoration course. Access to the site is free, only compulsory parking is chargeable. Bring good shoes and about an hour and a half visit. It’s climbing! Magnificent view at the top!
Best done in the morning in summer.
