About
Sydney Oyster Farm Tours offer immersive culinary tours less than one hour north of Sydney. We are a family owned oyster farm that has been operating for 14 years. Our tours take participants on a boat ride out to the oyster leases to learn about the evolution of farming and see the current cultivation methods we use to bring you the beautiful Sydney Rock and Pacific Oysters you love.

Three of us spent Sunday afternoon in the Hawkesbury River during the Immerse Yourself oyster-shucking experience. The wonderful Sheridan took us to her oyster leases and explained oyster farming before we donned waders and started shucking our own oysters and prawns. We sipped on French champagne as the water lapped around our legs and ate an extremely generous mound of wonderful oysters, which we sprinkled with Sheridan’s spectacular elderberry vinaigrette. Sheridan and her team offered us an amazing afternoon, and an unforgettable experience. Thank you!🦪

Lovely experience with a super informative host and very friendly team. It was such a gorgeous setting nestled in the water with fish swimming at your feet sipping a glass of French champagne. The only feedback I would have is on a super hot summer day, it would be better to serve the seafood on some ice. The oysters and prawns got really warm which was quite unappetising. We ended up putting ours into our eski with our drink ice to keep them chilled. Overall such a lovely day but would definitely have made the trip so much more enjoyable with the chilled aspect applied.

I went on the Sydney Oyster Farm Tour with my girlfriends on March 8th (actually it was the International Women’s Day). It was a unique and fun experience, and I plan to return, possibly with my parents, who love oysters.

However, the first part of the tour was poorly organized. The boat driver (an elderly man) stopped in the middle of the river for 40 minutes to talk about oysters. Unfortunately, those of us seated at the back couldn’t hear a word, and when we asked him to speak louder, he just ignored us. It felt like a bit of a torture under the direct sun.

But once we arrived at the tables in the river, the real fun began.
We were greeted with a glass of bubbles, and the fun of learning to shuck oysters started. The tables were beautifully set with white tablecloths and plates full of fresh oysters and prawns. The oysters were incredibly fresh and delicious, and the experience of shucking and tasting them right in the river was unforgettable!

We just returned from one of the most delightful experiences that I’ve had on holiday. We listened to how oysters are formed (actually quite fascinating!) Which was followed by putting on waders and being served oysters to be shucked while we were submerged in the Hawkesbury river. Sounds interesting? It was. Quite delightful with table cloths and champagne served by the wonderful company. Clearly, A must do.

Absolutely Brilliant trip. Well organised and very tasty. The Guides were informative and very helpful. And a free glass of Champagne while eating Oysters and King Prawns standing knee-deep in waders. (which are supplied by the tour). No special clothing required, just make sure you visit the loo before boarding and apply Sunblock. Also remember to bring extra drinks as one glass of champagne is not enough (for me anyway). They tell you all about the history of harvesting and breeding Oysters in the Sydney area. I would definitely go again and take a friend along. Smiling faces all round. I would recommend having a waterproof jacket as the trip out and back can result in some splashing. Nobody complained about getting a bit wet in fact it added to the atmosphere.

Your was great. Oysters and prawns were great too. All the people working employed by the oyster farm were lovely too. Unfortunately the boat that we went on was the slowest ride you could ever imagine. The way back home is torture because of how slow the boat was moving. The lady driving the boat was also quite rude. Disappointing finish to a lovely afternoon.

Such a fun experience on the Hawkesbury in an oyster boat checking out the leases. Very informative and fun lunch of Moët, oysters and prawns at beautifully draped tables in waders whilst on Hawkesbury River.

This was a superb morning on the water at Brooklyn on the Hawkesbury river. The history and explanation of oyster farming was very informative including pictures. The oyster shucking was a new experience for me but one I will always remember. The staff were outstanding and very obliging.

This was a 10/10 great time. We had perfect weather, learnt alot and ate fabulous oysters at an in-river table. Such a unique experience and a great way to see some of Hawkesbury. Everyone on the boat was having a great time. Have been talking about it non-stop to anyone who will listen and will definitely do it again!
