Located a couple of km from Hawkesbury River Station, this is a fascinating glimpse into the world of pearl cultivation. We found out how pearls are created, cultivated and graded before being turned into exquisite jewellery. The short boat trip out onto the Hawkesbury River to see the beds, and watch as the oyster farmer opened shells to discover a beautiful pearl, was extremely informative. Afterwards lunch at the pleasant local club around the corner was very tasty. They can pick up small groups from the station or it's an easy drive, turning off the M 1 to the Mooney Mooney exit. A very worthwhile excursion just north of Sydney. Thoroughly recommended for both locals and tourists.

I had no idea this unique experience was so close to Sydney. We had a wonderful day out visiting Pearls of Australia. I learnt so much about growing Pearls, Pearl qualities and the industry without having to go all the way to Broome. Although now it has got me interested in visiting Broome as well. Liz and all the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Travelling out to the oyster leases with Bryce was a real highlight it was so nice to be out on the water and look at the oysters growing. Bryce had a lot of knowledge he shared with us about the process of growing pearls. We then went to the Mooney Mooney club just next door for a delicious lunch. It is worth ringing to book the club as numbers are limited and also checking for availability of tours before going. Thanks to everyone at Pearls of Australia for a fantastic day.

I had a free day during the Xmas break and decided to do a day trip down to broken bay to the new Mooney Mooney shellar door and take part in the 2hr tour. An absolute delight such a great spot and super informative. I learnt a lot about the process of cultivating a pearl which was extremely interesting and have a new found love for pearls. Jodi had me intrigued from the start she was very well spoken and such a character, I would say the head of vibes. Skipper Steve is super passionate and knows everything about pearls I doubt he has ever been stumped by a pearl question. Overall an excellent experience which I will be recommending to family and friends.

Wow - I have lived on the central coast for nearly 25 years now and had no idea they were farming pearls here. The day started with a lecture on the activities for about 40 minutes or so and the lady giving the presentation was very knowledgeable and gave an excellent presentation. This was followed by a boat trip to the pearl farm and a fellow gave another excellent discussion and took us through the whole process. even opened a few oysters - some had pearls and some didn't. This boat trip probably lasted an hour or so. Then we went back to the offices and we sat down for another presentation on the different types of pearls. We we each given a box of 40 pearls and we had to sort them into one of 5 different types.
This was followed by a nice lunch and soft drinks or coffee.
There was an opportunity for people to buy pearls and there were some very expensive one's on display.
So if your ever coming to the coast or if you already live here - this tour is a must.

We spent a delightful morning with the Broken Bay Pearl & Oyster Farm Tour. Firstly, we received an expert introduction to the pearl and oyster industry , encompassing all aspects of the business. This was most informative and professionally delivered by Jack. We then hopped on the tour boat and headed up the beautiful Hawkesbury River with Sibelle who also gave us an excellent run down of both the pearl and oyster practices and the picturesque landscapes we were passing by. It was hard to resist the lovely jewelry on display at the Shellar Door. We definitely recommend this experience.

I absolutely adored my visit in Sydney, but the broken bay pearl farm tour was by far the highlight! The scenery is breathtaking, the people are lovely. It’s easy to get to by train and then people from the farm they can pick you up. I loved the story, how they make the pearls and the boat ride. I had high expectations of this tour, but it didn’t fail me! I would highly recommend it. Last but not least, I wore the pearl I bought and everyone loved it!

It was a very interesting tour with lots
Of information and a very knowledgeable team. Due to flooding the leases in the area have no oysters in them but the boat ride was very enjoyable and they showed us some aboriginal rock painting which was fascinating .

Thankyou for your lovely review Yasmin. We were so pleased you finally got to see us at the pearl farm after a few false starts due to Covid-19 and rain. We hope to restock the leases with our little oysters very soon. Hope to see you again soon. Liz and the BBPF team.
