Less than an hour from Kansas City, Wallace State Park is an island of serenity. Visitors can fish in the park’s six-acre lake or hike one of four scenic trails with benches along the way for relaxing. Picnic sites that are shaded by trees are scattered throughout and the family-oriented campground includes modern restrooms and hot showers.

Visited in the fall with two boys. We hiked 2 of the 4 or 5 trails. All were very easy and scenic. The Rocky trail was the shortest and boys enjoyed the creek and throwing rocks in it. All trails were very dry and supposed...More

We travel Rt. 36 rather than I-70 4 times yearly. The campground we intended to stop at was a "drive-by" and we went another hour and a half and found this gem. Sites were spacious and those on the outside of the circle private. Many...More

This is one of the nicest parks! Has lots of nice trails with different levels of difficulty. Pretty lake with fishing, boating, and swimming. Also has many day-use areas, bathroom facilities sprinkled throughout, and lots of camping. Close to a town that has several restaurants...More

Very calm although close to Cameron. Nature at its best. One of Missouri's state parks. When we were there, the park was not crowded.

Loved our overnight at Wallace! We stayed in a basic tent site, which has great seclusion but was close to all the necessary amenities. We spent an afternoon hiking the deer creek trail, which was nice-- the trail even had benches along the way. Though...More

I agree with John. That said, I feel that Wallace is a better camping experience over all. Watkins has a beautiful history, but the campsites at Wallace are for the most part, more private and a better environment.
