Imposing architecture and breathtaking scenery combine to make Ha Ha Tonka State Park one of Missouri’s most treasured spots. Located on the Lake of the Ozarks, the park features the stone ruins of a turn-of-the-20th-century castle built by a prominent Kansas City businessman high atop a bluff. More than 15 miles of trails traverse the park, leading visitors to sinkholes, natural bridges, caves and down to the lake.

So much to explore! So much to see! I only got to spend a couple of hours there and saw only a fraction of it. Plan to spend an entire day or weekend. Lots of walking involved so come prepared. Apply bug spray! Jeans and long sleeves are suggested as well. Enjoy!

We enjoyed first driving up to see the castle. Then hiked from the bottom up. Beautiful fresh spring, cold water. Walk through the woods along otters swimming next to you. Lots of birds, turtles. Hike up through caves and natural bridges. Worth a full day, bring some snacks and plenty of water.

Ha Ha Tonka is one of the best kept secrets in Missouri. It is located on the upper Niangua arm of the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks, a 1300 mile shoreline lake in Central Missouri. The park is truly unique in all of it's features. I'll name a few: Waterfront park, fishing, fishing dock, paved and unpaved hiking trails galore,... More

Ha Ha Tonka Castle Ruins was beautiful and scenic. Though this time of year the trees are leaf-barren, the sights were wonderful. This site was rich in history. This date, Feb.11, it felt more like late spring than winter; the ruins was especially busy. The people were friendly and there were plenty of canines of all sorts, loved it all.... More

I visited the park the Christmas week and was surprised at how many people were there. You need to go with time, if you want to see the whole park. Recommend to see the 'Castle' first.

The hiking trails at HaHa Tonka are beautiful and there is a trail for every hiking ability. The challenge levels are all well marked. We love to visit as often as we can!

Ha Ha Tonka State Park has been at the Ozarks for many years. Our first visit was around 35 years ago. We took our kids there to hike, see the castle and the springs. Now that we're living here, we had to go visit this beautiful park. I especially love it in the fall and spring. During the summer months... More

This is my favorite place to hike in all of MO. The views are breathtaking. You can go fishing, hiking, and sight-seeing. You can go there by boat or by car. I highly recommend going when the dogwood trees are in bloom! This is not the place for you if you don't like to walk. It does have several areas... More
