Met some nice fisherman down by the river at the end of the hatchery, taught us all about their lures. You are self motivated visiting here, but it's fun if you enjoy nature.

Nice museum/live animal exhibit area, fish were in the open and easily viewed. Food was available (at minimal cost) to feed the fish. Very nice place to visit, no admission fee.

After you visit the visitor's center museum, stop by the fish hatchery. A nice way to spend an afternoon with your family. It's nice and clean and really interesting.

My daughter loved the fish. The animals inside was a nice addition. It was nice walking around the grounds and looking at the dam.

Did you know Trout are NOT native to Missouri? That 80,000 trout are released from this hatchery every year? That they are 11-12 inches long when released and are 12-18 months old? That they regulate the growth rate by controlling the temperature of the water?...More

We did not see a gift shop. There is an attendant inside the office to answer questions, etc. And there is a small room that shows a video / informative movie that plays every 30 minutes or so... But nothing to buy.
