Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Day Time Tour - Informative yet casual tour. Tour guide was relaxed speaker and had many stories to tell and willing answered questions. There was plenty of opportunity to explore on ones own and to take photos.

Wow.....never thought that I would ever see inside an old mental institution for the criminally insane. However, thanks to the National Trust of South Australia this pretty spooky facility is now accessible to the public. To view the conditions that these miserable souls had to tolerate is mind blowing, especially when you see the metal fence around the fire place to prevent inmates from throwing themselves on the fire!
The Trust operates evening ghost tours here which will be my next visit for sure.

Really enjoyed this tour. It was really extremely well done with no theatricals but had us terrified all the same while wondering though a building with a violent past. Loved the lock out in the cells. Great history and stories in a stunning old building.

If you want to learn about an unusual piece of Adelaide history, why not visit the Z-Ward in Glenside? This historic building, designed in the 1880s by the eminent colonial architect E. J. Woods, used to be an asylum for the criminally insane up to the 1970s. The National Trust conducts guided 90 min. history tours on some days, where you learn about the architecture, history and use of the building (check their website for dates and to book). There are also ghost tours being run by a private company on some nights.

Excellent guide takes you through the history of the building with much still in the original state. Options are Day Tour and a Ghost Tour.
