Beautiful historic site, makes one want to watch all movies filmed here, too bad it burned in 1891, hope archival research reveals more historic photos and our drawings - good side trip from the Trace

There is wonderful history behind these ruins. I only wish the current property owners would MAINTAIN THE GROUNDS around the ruins.

I have lived in North La and Central Ms most of my life and had never heard of this place. Someone just happened to have a picture they snapped there on Facebook so I looked it up and glad I did. We drove down the Trace with our grandson during Spring Break and visited. The only disappointment was the weather... More

Stopped here on our way to Natchez. I was a lovely sunny day and a slight breeze was blowing. There wasn't anyone else there, so we were able to enjoy the everlasting beauty of this place. Being a romantic and lover of all things Southern, I sat down and imagined the glorious parties once given at this magical place in... More

Although these are just columns remaining from a burned mansion if you will pause a while and reflect on what must have been you realize that they are more than just columns. They are the brick and steel remnants of what was the largest home in the State of Mississippi - built at a time when cotton barons owned other... More

This is a fantastic site and well worth a detour when driving on the Natchez Trace Parkway. The view of the columns is magnificent due to the setting and the unusual nature of their very existence. The story of the family who had the mansion built there, to lose the father and the building shortly after completion really touched the... More

Just a short ride from the trace, and well worth the diversion. This area is unusual in its topography and this mansion would have been opulent in its day. gravel parking lot and nobody much around.

You see these magnificent columns and wonder what it looked like in the day. There is a sketch that gives you an idea. Worth the out of the way trip off Natchez Trace.

Beautiful day walking through a plantation mansion whose ruins of columns remain after a fire. Odd but cool to walk through what could have been. Nice stop on the way between Natchez and Vicksburg.

It was a country road. One that takes you back in time and off the beaten path. Back in time to the 1800's. Before the Civil War. The grand feeling you get of being dwarfed by the gigantic pillars of this home is amazing!! Well worth the drive.
