Tasteful, beautiful, moving

Elegantly laid out, well tended museum of world-class artist who spent most of his life in Ocean Springs and on Horn Island.

This was our second visit in two years to the museum! The old-school cinema photography really works as a catalyst for the incredible sense of alienation experienced watching the "Islander," the short bio on Walter Anderson! I love his work and his sense of place in his fairly faceless universe! Only downside, museum staff was not very friendly or engaging!

Walter Anderson is one of my favorite artists and this museum was no disappointment! A wonderful collection of his work. Be sure to go to the Ocean Springs Community Center next door; see his amazing murals on all the walls!

This is a small museum in which a friend said the Big Room was the best attraction. After paying for two tickets when we got to the Big Room it was closed. We asked the woman who sold tickets and she said the room was in use this day. She should have told us we could not visit there BEFORE... More

I had never heard of Walter Anderson but boy was this interesting! Very informative video gives a great history of this quirky artist. The attractive museum is extremely well done featuring Anderson's paintings, block prints, pottery and an entire room of murals. You don't have to be a fan to appreciate how good Walter and his brothers were. Well worth... More

The Walter Anderson Museum of Art is a real gem on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I did not know anything about Walter Anderson before I went to this museum. We purchased a Mississippi Gulf Coast Attractions pass and this was included. Mississippi Gulf Coast Attractions Pass: This pass will admit you to eight wonderful attractions. They are: Walter Anderson Museum... More

We were lucky enough to have friends who recommended this museum. It is an incredible place. Very understated and yet the story and the artwork is amazing! If you ever get the chance, you have to visit!

Lovely museum dedicated to one artist from Ocean Springs, whose body of work is quite interesting. Nice find.

Take the time to find "old town" and slow down for a stroll in a quaint Mississippi coastal village. There are plenty of places to eat and shop, then go to this museum and learn about a great family of artists! Walter Anderson may have been eccentric but we are blessed to have his works to see. He was prolific... More

Walter Anderson was thought to be insane, but created art everywhere he went. To me it seems the different drawings, paintings show his mood at the time. It appears the art was created from scenes that were in his mind's eye. If you like coastal scenes and coastal wildlife, this is a perfect place to visit. Easy to find in... More
