This sight is unique in that it is a historical building but also a home of the seated governor. With on street parking, visitors must wait by the main gate to enter the grounds when tours are scheduled to start. Tours are guided by knowledgeable docents and span the main and second floors. This is a beautiful building that has... More

Enjoyed our tour of the second oldest governor's mansion in the U.S on a rainy day. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. My pet peeve in these places is not being allowed to take photographs. In this digital age of needing no flash, I don't understand what they are trying to protect.

This was an interesting part of history. Not a place to sit so if you are needing to sit you must go back out of the mansion.

Been there on several ocassions for various reasons. Each visit, each tour, I saw and or learned someting different. The mansion is a great p-lace for historians and anyone looking to take in beautiful scenery... inside and out.

A nativity scene has been erected on the lawn to the left. Well worth seeing. The mansion itself is somewhat obscured by greenery, as is the Capitol.

We showed up for the 9:30 tour and found we were the only two there. Our guide, Becky, was warm, inviting and very knowledgeable. The mansion itself is beautifully restored and the period appropriate furnishings are meticulously maintained. The tour was free. Definitely a worthwhile hour spent.

We came across the Governor's Mansion while riding around downtown at night to see the city while traveling. The Mansion is quite beautiful. My wife and I got out and walked around the Mansion since it was at night and not open. This entire area of downtown is quite beautiful with the Capitol building right around the corner. We went... Only a few tours are offered each day and the only way to visit this building is to be on one of them. The guide was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of information on the history of the mansion as well as about some of the governors that lived in it. It was very interesting to hear how the... I only had one day in Jackson and, after visiting the State Capitol (which was great) had planned to visit the Governors Mansion. Sadly the mansion is closed on Mondays (not sure why). I drive the short distance to the mansion (it is easily walkable from the State Capitol) and parked on a meter outside. I managed to get some... More
