    Heide Museum, place to visit.
A very impressive place to visit!!! We liked it a lot! This is a great and modern place, with some history too. You can walk around the public art park, have coffee or brunch, and see all the exhibitions. This place can be a meeting point for friends and family, to enjoy and explore. Worth visiting!

Beautiful Heidi is fascinating to visit
We have always visited Heidi since my kindergarten son, now a father, was excited being there. Robert loved throwing sticks in the Yarra River and he climbed over the contents of the sculpture park, which is now strictly forbidden. Heidi was originally a rather plain house that created Australian Modernism. The Heidi's productive triumvirate was composed of John Reed, a prosperous lawyer; arts patron Sunday Baillieu; and prolific painter Sidney Nolan. Heidi created Australian Modernism from money and scandal; it includes artists such as Joy Hester and Albert Tucker. Heidi has evolved towards Contemporary arts, but the center of its influence is Modernism. Heidi has had its profound influence on Melbourne. Beautiful Heidi remains fascinating to visit.

A hidden gem of a place
A a tourist I was unaware of this museum. It was by chance on our way to a winery we saw this museum advertised. It is easy to get to from Melbourne CBD by train. A superb museum of modern art and the Italian design exhibition was divine. The history behind the place is also fascinating and how it all started. A great day out.

Wouldn't go out of my way to go here. Nothing here really commanded my attention. Also the virtual reality art was non-accessible due to long lines of people waiting to interact with the art work using the VR stuff. When we went, a Saturday, there was a market out the back that was also not great but had quite nice curry and samosas available there.

This art gallery is presenting itself as inclusive! LGBT art, first nations art, multiculturalism, international food cafe. However, it is ageist and not disabled friendly. I as an artist, attended from interstate. My disability card and the card of my carer was not accepted because I had not come on a Tuesday. There are 3 galleries. One of the galleries was closed under going repairs, and a second one I could not access fully because of my disability. I was made to pay slightly reduced rate but my carer had to pay full price even though they could only see 1.5 galleries. The attitude was also very condescending. Perhaps if I had been Gay, tattooed and pierced as some of their current art works, I might have been treated better. We wanted lunch but I decided I was not going to give any more money to a venue that is very biased in their understanding of the word "inclusive". The art gallery had a warning before you entered. I found it very curious that a galley would engage in painting its walls in obscene back drops in stead of the unbiased white, in this way it would let the "art" () in that room speak for itself.

A fantastic surprise this Art museum is right on our doorstep. I’ve seen the signs from the highway but never visited. Today we had a beautiful Autumn day in Melbourne and we started by exploring the gorgeous ground of Heidi.
We then ventured inside to view two collections on display. The first, was a more general display but featuring some really interesting displays using a variety of artistic mediums particularly paint and sculpture. The second separately housed display focused on the contribution that women have made to the arts. This was brilliant and in addition to the display you get to see the historic home in which it is curated.
The on site cafe is also worth a visit.

There are three separate sections to the museum as well as the free sculpture park. Heide III is the largest of the galleries, which is currently showing British sculpture Barbara Hepworth works. Heide II is located near to the cafe. HeideI is the original house and set in a pretty garden. Toilets are clean and wheelchair accessible. The cafe is very busy so I would suggest booking a table if you require a meal. The sculpture park is easy to access from the park.

Much as we reject the notion, art goes in cycles. Heide was the birthplace of Australian Modernism, and among its foremost exponents were Sidney Nolan and Albert Tucker, both associated with Heidi. Heidi is a truly fascinating place, well worth a visit.

We spent a most enjoyable three hours here today. Some really exciting exhibitions. We really loved the Tucker paintings. The AV exhibits were interesting, but the wait on them proved too much of a disincentive.

The gardens are lovely. And lunch outdoors in the restaurant really good.

There are 2 'sections' to Heide MoMa - indoors and outdoors. You are free to roam outside to view the outdoor exhibits that are spread out over a wide area, There is also a kitchen garden. You have to pay to view the indoor exhibits. The cafe adjoins the museum building. This is a good leisurely outing.

Excellent day out if you are interested in art, sculpture or the history of modern art. There are three buildings with exhibitions. One entrance fee allows access to all three buildings. Then there are the beautiful gardens which are free to walk around. There is a lovely little cafe too.

I recently hosted my sisters wedding at Heide and it was a stunning location for the ceremony and reception. Simon, Jo and Bam from Heide all worked fantastically to make the day go without a hitch. They were accommodating and attentive to every detail. Food and service throughout were fantastic and I can’t thank them enough for making it a memorable day for my sister, her husband and their guests.

I paid $36 (me, partner and 6yr old) to get into the gallery (the cost of which hardly promotes notions of 'art' being accessible to everyone) and was very much looking forward to looking at Jenny Watson's exhibition. However, as i sat down to look at a painting, a staff member promptly approached me (i thought perhaps the seat i was on was art and she was going to tell me to get up...) that it was my duty to supervise my child - my daughter had stepped through the threshold of the next area - barely 5 metres away - and i could see her. I got up and took my daughter's hand. The staff member then followed me to say that the soft toy my daughter was carrying was NOT ALLOWED!!!
I felt kind of under attack and certainly not very welcome - and i told the staff member this. i thought that was the end of it. Then another staff member approached me and instead of making things better - she compounded the situation by going on at me about how the rules of entry were for children to be under adult supervision and soft toys were not allowed. we were just looking at THE ART!!! it was a fairly awful experience - if children aren't welcome they shouldn't let children in. Such a shame because i've always loved Hiede but i can't see us going back.
