Great place close to the cities

We love this place. We only wish we could take our leashed dogs. We do understand, however, that the rule no dogs is because someone abused the privilege.

Tamarack continues to be a rich asset for this NE Twin-Cities metro area. Strong on offerings for kids and nature lovers. Relatively small in area, but well laid out, and maintained. Currently, construction interferes with parking. We've taken our grandchlldren there for years (they're now "too old" for it, they say). Some wildlife; birds, small animals; small lake, well-forested. Some... More

I love taking my grandkids to play at Tamarack. We never seem to get past the garden or the playground areas, but that's great for me. There are fun places with rocks to climb, water in the form of a stream that they turn on for themselves, and sand to play in, logs and sticks to build forts with, and... More

This is a worthwhile destination; while the indoor area is interesting, with displays and some live animals, the outdoor play area is the favorite of my children: realistic block walls for kids to scramble on, winding paths amongst vegetable gardens, sculpture, wood blocks, water play areas -- all very rustic, natural, and kid-friendly.

They have built a great new outdoor play area that kids just love. Don't be that helicopter parent. Let your kids climb the rock wall, explore the caves and stream. Its very safe and you can relax and let them play.

Tamarack has beautiful trails each season. The mosquitoes are really thick at some times in the summer, but where in Minnesota can one go where they aren't (except maybe indoor malls).

This nature center is a childhood wonderland. Our preschooler had a great time exploring, building, creating, demolishing, connecting, climbing, touching, pouring, splashing, running, etc at this place. While there are many places to explore most of our time was split between 2 places. First there is a large area with many large tree branches. The kids do all kinds of... More

I enjoyed going for a hike during my visit to White Bear Lake. They have cross-country ski trails and some walking paths which are all marked. It's a great place for kids to get out and have fun, too. Several Day Camps were in progress while I was there, but the kids all seemed to be having a great time,... More
