We were only 3 thankfully because it was a busy day. The hill is mostly smooth. A few bumps here and there. My 1st experience here, so maybe the bumps were for an added thrill.

I have been sledding at Shingnobee Hill many times and it is very fun but also rather dangerous. I have seen many people get hurt while sledding (mainly broken noses). I would not recommend Shingnobee Hill to anyone going with children younger than 10. Personally...More

Beautiful hiking trail, but more prairie than woods so it got hot even when it was only 70 degrees. Lots of ticks--we must have pulled 15 off of us plus at least that many off the dog! There were many options for routes, so take...More

There is a great sledding hill and provides a lot of fun and winter exercise. Be sure to be careful. I have personally gotten pretty injured on this hill.

We love Shingnobee for their x-country trails. They're nicely groomed and absolutely beautiful. The trails are at all levels of difficulty and are clearly marked. It seems to be a hidden gem because all the times I've ever been there, there were hardly any people....More

We drove along Shingobee Island road. It is a very beautiful area. Stopped at an access area just before getting back on the highway and took a couple of pictures. If you time, just take a leisurely ride through here if nothing else.

There is something really magical about this scenic area. We love the view. I have snowshoed here and the trails are excellent and scenic. Awesome place.

Look for the road sign to find this hill. It's easy to miss. There are two hills-- a long mild one to the right and then a steep one straight in front. Although the images don't make it look frightening, this is the kind of...More

Our MN family camped in the area with the lodge available to use to cooking and gathering. It was a nice area, and everyone had a great time. There are outdoor bathrooms but no running water. The lodge has electricity and lots of tables and...More

The Shingobee Rec Area is absolutely beautiful, and for the best sledding in the entire area, check out Shingobee Hill, between Walker and Park Rapids on Highway 34. It rivals ski hills for vertical drop, so get your nerve up before pushing off the top...More
