Awesome experience, the staff were super informed with the history of the area, we went on the paid tour and it was incredible to see the difference that the lighthouse has gone through over the years, especially seeing the way that the lighthouse produced the beacon. If you're not scared of heights, without hesitation, go and see the view from atop the lighthouse, it's a pretty unique experience and would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to get an insight of the lifestyle of lighthouse keepers. Very awesome experience. Check it out if you're down that way.

Do the tour so you can get the views which are amazing. The tour guide was an encyclopaedia of knowledge, not just this lighthouse and its' history, but lighthouses in general. Very informative tour and well worth making the trip there. Overall, it was more than we were expecting. As it is on the rugged coastline, expect it to be windy, was blowing quite hard when we were there.

Pretty special to be able to go inside a working lighthouse and walk around the top - feel the wind & see the views!
Lots of kangaroo and a windswept location - gives you an insight into what it was like for lighthouse keepers many years ago.
Ranger guide was knowledgeable and informative. Be sure to be there before 3pm as that’s the last tour time.

The cottages are as the lighthouse keepers would have lived in them. Very comfortable with kitchen, toaster, microwave and kettle, coffee, tea and sugar are provided, bathroom, separate toilet, 4 bedrooms with all linen included. Spectacular view from front veranda of ocean and the many kangaroos.

High rating to live up to but from the moment we were greeted by our guide Dale I knew we weren’t going to be disappointed.
Take the time to review the historical info on hand before joining a full historical tour. Dale knew her stuff (except where her glasses were lol) and provided exactly the right level of interaction and knowledge.
Don’t be daunted by the 102 stairs to the top as Dale has a short talk on something of interest at each landing allowing you to catch your breath. And then like magic you pop out onto the balcony and wow, the view.
Would (and already have) recommended this tour and location.

The 3rd of my Lighthouse Visits whilst on Kanagroo Island. There are tours available of the lighthouse and some history and collectables in the mini musuem. The only Lighthouse I visited without the wind & rain. Impressive views.

Was an incredibly windy day but we had a great visit. Ate a picnic lunch with a bottle of wine sheltering behind a wall. Wandered the displays then had a private guide to take our family of five into the lighthouse (due to COVID). Highlight for the kids was actually seeing one of the old lenses and being able to go inside! Also wandering the paths pas the old settlement ruins was good as well! Must do if in the area !

Cape Willoughby Lighthouse at the most Eastern Point of Kangaroo Island was a 30 minute drive on a relatively smooth unsealed road from the town of Penneshaw South Australia.
We were permitted to book a tour on site at a reasonable cost & only waited a half an hour for a guided Park Ranger Tour to commence.
The Officer had an abundance of knowledge & history on this subject, then she escorted us through to the top where we enjoyed stunning views.

Definitely add this to your list of must do’s in Kangaroo Island.
The 45 min guided tour includes a trip to the top of the lighthouse which is one of the few original lighthouses still in operation. Learn all about the technology from the 1800’s to the present day that enable this life saving becon to operate and get a spectacular view from the top. Highly recommend purchasing a parks pass that gives access to the National Parks, this tour and the tour at Seal Bay.

We had a great guided tour of the lighthouse. Arrived just in time for tour and there was no-one else there. Gotta love getting a private tour so we get to ask all the questions. We enjoyed the details about the light itself. The climb up was not too strenuous at all but we didn’t stay outside at the top for long as it was blowing a gale and it started to rain.
