Visited on a bit of a drizzly Monday Initially Good impression friendly welcome. I had brought my granddaughter who is seven. There seemed to be very little staff only one friendly guy wandering around. We visited all the exhibits and carried out the quiz. There...More

Visited this attraction whilst staying locally. It looked really good online but wasn't as good as we hoped. The roman villa was closed as was the archeological dig bits which was a shame. There is also not a great deal of written information for visitors...More

I really enjoyed our visit to this open-air living archeological site. There is a lot of good information to read and great re-constructions of ancient buildings based on actual archeological finds from the Stone Age, the Iron Age, Roman Britain, and Anglo-Saxons period. Butser is also...More

Brilliant day out. The roman villa exhibit was so informative. The role players were so hands on and amazingly well informed about the subject matter, my boys and I were blown away by it all. We watched some great demonstrations and thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

My in-laws are from Rome and as a result we have seen a lot of old Roman buildings and tourist attractions. I volunteered as a parent helper, out of curiosity; and had a really WONDERFUL day at Butser! We were transported back in time to...More

I came here with a load of kids from the local school. Not really much to do for the day. The kids were getting quite impatient, thinking they were going to see sone form of battle commence. Apart from that, it was ok.
